I have a 2013 Scrambler 865 EFI, I bought this bike used and it came with an arrow 2-1exhaust (i have baffle out US spec) and k&n filters direct to manifold, no air box. Do i need a tune, i bought one of those oil cap temp gauges and it peaked at 285F( im unsure of quality or accuracy of guage and have been riding this bike about 60mi before i even bought the temp gauge) and i shut it down as quick as possible. Id assume its running very lean and very hot, ive read countless opinions on set ups close to mine but not seen anything worth taking action on. Any help would really be appreciated, i love this bike and i want to keep it happy, air cooled means warmer than im used to, but just want to make sure im not running on borrowed time. Thanks in advance you mad lads.

No doubt the Triumph factory engineers have spent considerable time and effort dialing in these bikes before they go on sale. Of course they have to meet government specs also. I would suggest any time anyone starts modifying them from factory condition that they be re-evaluated and tuned accordingly. That keeps the scooters not only 'safe', but operating at peak efficiency.

There was a company that even was running this combo without the oil cooler (saving weight) without high temps. If gauge is correct you're in RnineT company baking Pizza. If possible try a different can. Used or borrowed. Had your almost exact bike and the Arrow can needs
renewing. Very least remove and look through making sure everything open. Use a shop vac and blow air through it. Maybe somebody else has ideas about the K&N.... My temps with only baffel out of airbox and arrow, was 220 at end of spirited ride in FL during summer.

Ive went ahead and purchased tune 13 from TTP which is for no airbox, pod filters, and non baffled 2-1 (arrow prefered) i already ditched the sai, and will be removing the o2 sensors and plugging the bungs. I think this tune will sort out the bike. No reason not to tune at this point.

Hope it works out for you. Let us know when you get it finished.

On my 2022 1200 XE I removed to cat to help with heat (which it did) but I found my tune did almost as much for heat as the decat and gave a noticeable performance boost to boot.
