no problem with the help your welcome ! that sounds very sweet and runs well , the idle is probably due to no o2 sensor and the fact theres no air box .
but the idle is quite high on these engines at between 850rpm - 1000rpm .

Here's the victory picture! I took it for a short jaunt around the back of my shop :) Couldn't really give it too much throttle as all it would do was fishtail in the snow/ice (y):D

I'll probably be a bit more quiet until I need some more help. I'll get the bodywork figured out and come back and give you the "finished" look! haha. Thanks guys.

Dang it, all you bike builders are the same these days . . . No Front Fender. :y20:

Sorry, I couldn't resist. BGRIN She's coming along real nice. TUP Did I miss it earlier, where did you find the exhaust can? Last I remember you were playing drag racer and only had headers. :y2:

Haha, no no, I am NOT a HIPSTER BIKE BUILDER. Mine have fenders. Front and rear. Not only do they help with steering geometry up front (stiffness) they keep sand/water out of your face when you go through stuff! I do like to play around with motorbikes though. Here's my wife's 1971 CB500 as it sits currently. Started as that purple monstrosity. Now is a monoshock, and my wife loves it. Needs new mufflers, as I made those out of sheetmetal :( ew. But they keep the sound down since she complained about the more "open" exhaust I had on it before...

Still looking for a reasonable cost front fender for the Tiger, or I'll make my own :) Not sure on what color to go with either...always loved the Triumph Orange. The exhaust can came on a 1988 CBR600 that I modified a year or two ago. I went a different direction and the muffler was just sitting there waiting to be used. Got a pretty good sound on the Triple!

It was definitely a thrill to get out on it. I'm 5'7" so it feels like I'm in a lifted truck compared to a car if you know what I mean. The lack of rear brake and ice patches made for more fun too!

A little bit more progress. Got my TuneECU cable. Setup the drivers for it and it works great. Was able to read the map and such that is on there. I had forgotten that this ECU came from a Trimph Daytona 955i so that could be some of my issues on that low end (along with no O2 sensor) Pretty nifty program. On that note...does anyone know what the map for the 885i should be? I tried downloading all of the Triumph maps but they are all numbered and not named by bike. Thanks guys!

I found my maps...BUT I'm using a different computer since it's from the Daytona. Will that be an issue? And I'm assuming that without the O2 sensor. I would use the second map or third?

885 Tiger / Up to VIN 089736 / Sagem ECU MC2000
9891Map.hexOEM md5checksum 885cc Tiger (up to 2000 model year) with standard exhaust
9892Map.hexOEM md5checksum 885cc Tiger (up to 2000 model year) with standard exhaust (with closed loop catalyst)
9893Map.hexOEM md5checksum 885cc Tiger (up to 2000 model year) with aftermarket exhaust (TORS)

This is the computer I have in the bike currently. Doesn't look like it would hurt to put the 885i map on it though...

Daytona955i/ From VIN # 071699 to VIN # 089736, 1999 model year / Sagem ECU MC2000
9894Map.hex OEM md5checksum 955i Daytona (1999 model year) with standard exhaust
9895Map.hex OEM md5checksum 955i Daytona (1999 model year) with high aftermarket exhaust (TORS)
9896Map.hex OEM md5checksum 955i Daytona (1999 model year) with low aftermarket exhaust (TORS)

Wish I could help....I bought the cable for mine ---uhm---2 years ago, loaded the software onto a laptop---then it died before I actually got any of it loaded to the bike-----and thats about where I got derailed lol
Good luck with it I may need to get some pointers from you! :)

haha, I haven't had a single problem so far. I loaded it up, saw the Daytona map on there, was able to download the 885i map in there and call it a day! I was also able to reset my TPS :) Very slick. For my next trick....I'll be copying the 885i map, modifying it in the right places and seeing if I can shut of the O2 sensor when I create my own map. It wouldn't let me do anything with it when the map was already created by another person....or maybe I'm missing something on that aspect. I definitely wouldn't mind helping you out with it! I made sure to have the battery charger hooked up to the bike too, so as no voltage drop could happen. You are supposed to have your Laptop on the charger as well just in case. I used my desktop computer, so no worries there. Just had to pull the bike right up to it!

Next up: Bodywork. I've peeled (yes peeled) the paint from the gas tank, and used a razor blade on the side covers as well. I bought a special plastic paint adahesive/bonding spray that I will use before the primer to make sure this stuff sticks and I don't get any dang bubbles...like the stock paint job did...

Here we go. Quite a bit of work. I've got to wetsand and do quite a bit more to get that beautiful paint job, but it's on it's way. Still haven't decided on paint. I tossed a layer of black on there as it's what I have laying around. Most likely going to be black I'm sure :p but still mulling other options. I'm not one for standing out too much.

Thanks! I really can't wait to ride this thing all over. I haven't been this excited about a ride since I bought my 04' Aprilia RSVR :)

After I work all the bugs out I've got 2 possible trips this summer. Georgia to meet a riding buddy of mine that moved from MN a few years back, and possibly Colorado where my wife would fly out there and I would ride out and meet a group. She couldn't handle a long trip on a motorcycle yet (she gets sleepy riding 2 hours in a day on her bike) :)
