Ok gents. The long wait is over. The Triumph Title finally came in the mail. That means I am willing to put some more into her :)

What's the consensus on the windscreens? Stock sucks? Or? I'm thinking anything is going to be better than my CBR600 chopped one...:)

I'm also still looking for a front fender (just the front part, the rear came in the mail a little while ago) It also appears that the O2 sensor from the 03 model doesn't work or show up with the tune software, so I think they aren't compatible with each other. Oh well. Got about 350 miles on her since put back together. Loving it quite a bit. Going to go with a larger front sprocket though as the RPM's are a bit high for the highway stuff I have to do around my house 70mph or so. I'd like to get them down to 4500rpm versus the 5100 it's at currently. Lastly. How about hand gaurds? Any specific models? Just go with universal Acerbis? or dirtbike style? Thanks for your help and input as always guys!!

The standard hand guards are realy good but the universal acerbis ones are very good too , as for the front sprocket just go up one tooth it makes a huge diferance to the ride .

The stock hand guards are good for wind deflection but offer no crash protection. Bark Busters are what I'm running on my 800XC. I have Acerbis is what I run on my race bike (sponsor provided) and we run Moose on both my sons race bikes (team owner, ie dad provided). For equipment protection, Acerbis, Bar Buster and Moose are great, you can't go wrong with any of them. I've got a few friends that run the Tusk brand but I have no personal experience with them.

I got a great deal on a stock Girlie windshield and I really liked it. The reason I really liked it may have been because I had been running a homemade summer screen and I hated it. Several that didn't really like the stock screeN added a lip or wing to theirs and had pretty good luck with that set up.

Cool, I'll check on finding a stock screen. I'm not the biggest guy at 5'7" so maybe the stock screen won't bother me anyways :) As for the hand guards, if they are anything like finding other parts for this beast, I think I'll run an aftermarket set. Is there any sizing for those, or just one size fits all?

Most of the aftermarket guards are based on handlebar size. I would suggest trying one of the manufactor web sites to get more info on sizing. I know Bark Buster has some for specific models. I bought theirs that had the correct mounts for my stock bars. They also, IIRC have set ups with the correct mounts for aftermarket bars too.

If there isn't a specific set up for your bars, visit a dealer or two and compare the ones on hand and how they match up to your set up.

Stock screen is amazing compared to my crap home made one for the time being. :) Still looking for a front fender (mudguard) if anyone has one laying around....

So far so good gents! I've got the "last" puzzle piece on it's way. Along with several miscellaneous hardware components. I got the stock 05' Tiger handguards and bolts (as I was missing the proper bolts anyways!!) I have a yellow front fender on it's way (to be painted) I got both fairing pieces (plastic bits between the tank and front fairing) and I figured out my idle issue! I removed the IACS because I thought it wasn't needed (I'm a carburetor kind of dude) Put that bad boy back on and wow she IDLES again!! But the throttle response went to sh*t. I'll hook her up to the computer and reset the TPS if I can, otherwise maybe the idle control valve is suspect. I'll get a current photo shortly. Just wanted to update!

Here we go! I "made" my own bags and rack setup since mine doesn't have the stock bits and they are stupid expensive to get stock bags on these things. And finally got a front fender and all. She's coming together for sure! Next year (or over the winter) I'll probably pull the painted bits and actually get her painted professionally. It's really starting to shape up! About 1500 miles I've put on her now. Heading out to Sturgis as we are "dropping" a friend off there where he'll continue on to Colorado where he just moved to. He left his Tenere' here and we thought it would be a good idea to have him fly back and ride it home :) So 4 of us are tripping out there and this will be the Tiger's first experience outside of the state! Leaving this Wednesday and coming back Sunday. Should be a blast. And I've got loads of luggage room now...no backpack for sure! The bags are truck toolboxes and weigh 9lbs each. Rack system also weighed about 9lbs. So a rough total of around 27-30lbs for the whole setup including all bolts and hardware. With the 15lb savings from the stock muffler system to what I have on there now....I'd say that's not bad! Thanks again to you all for your help in the beginning and encouragement. I've really had no other experience with Triumphs in general and it's been a great one so far.

Thanks guys! I think the bags will be blacked out eventually (maybe with a British flag left in the polished aluminum) haven't decided yet...but for now, she'll do for the trip!

I've searched a bit, is there any other ignition switch that works with these Tigers? I can't bring myself to spend so much on a simple on off switch. I've got a $10 keyed switch on the bike now, but it's not the best fit and I would prefer something more nice. Let me know if there is another one that fits that you know of! THANKS to you all again!

I haven't run across a different switch for the Girlies, surely there's one out there.

As for the photos. . . Keys took the words right out of my mouth. . . So see his last comments for MY comments. :y2: TUP

:beer:BBEERThanks Gents! It's been fun. I'll modify the bags at a later date, they are just a tad tall at 18" and the left bag will get a 2 or 3 inch widening as well, but that will all come over the winter. Thanks again for the comments and info along the way. I'll add a few pictures here and there as I think it's appropriate for this beast that was brought back from the grave. Cheers!

Well, after a large trip, I had some issues with the old gal. Getting read to get her back up and running again. She ate 2 spark plugs on my long trip. One on the way out, and one on the way back. Both were in cylinder #3. Both broke the NGK spark plugs at the center of the porcelain electrode and went through the valves and out the exhaust. Amazingly both times I was able to keep riding (even at 80mph through South Dakota highways. That was last fall. I got home safely, parked her in the garage and swore a bit and there she sat until now. (battery on a tender of course.)

I've got her all apart as far as I think is needed. But I was wondering if it's possible to pull the head and do the work with the engine in the frame, or if I have to pull her out due to it being a stressed member type of engine? It looks as though the head bolts to the frame....so can I unbolt, have a lift under the engine and continue to do engine work this way? It's up on the center stand currently. I was able to use the 2003 955i center stand due to my exhaust change :) Also if any of you have any tips/tricks on this particular engine, I would really appreciate it!! I was going to check the valve clearances first, but it's not going to matter as I have to pull the head to inspect/fix the 3rd cylinder valves/seats. Compression was 190psi cyl#1, 185psi cyl#2 and 160psi for cylinder #3 It also doesn't look like they sell a "kit" for doing the top end on one of these bad boys. Thanks again to you all for your help and suggestions!!!!

Wow
Sorry to hear of the issues.....but glad to hear she still got you home ;)

I wish I could be of more assistance but I have not had to get that deep into my Tigers Engine. I did a total rebuild on the Sprint 885 Carb type engine.

Have you checked with Bike Bandit for a kit? If anyone has it I would think they would.

No kits that I could find. Tallying up the gaskets and little things is probably upward of $200 or so I think, MAYBE including shims, might be more if any are needed. Bike as over 13K miles so it is due for an adjustment anyways.

Finally found a good link to the manual! I'm going to start diving in to the engine shortly! Hopefully I can document with pics for anyone else who happens to have to find themselves in there....ONWARD!!!

I purchased an adjustment tool from a bloke on other forum its been a few years since purchase and a couple relocation's......if I can find it this weekend I will let you know but I think they still offer them over there at that "other forum".

I may have posted here as well about the custom adjustment tool....but ---- I cant find it--- we have had a forum change over or two since then.......
