Given that as usual this thread has gotten a little away from it's intended start, and Don posted a shot of one of his crashed bikes I'll do likewise.
At the time this CB750 was my every day ride, after the car hit me I rebuilt it and it continued to be the one.

Impact point, just in front of my leg.

Check the forks. I actually straightened them and both yokes.

That's her back on the road but still looking for a replacement tacho.

After the rebuild that bike took Sharron and I on a 4 mth camping holiday covering most of eastern Australia. I only traded it in 74 when I fell in love with a Ducati SS750. The SS750 became a super collectable classic but the CB750 was honestly a better bike.

Kev that Honda was a great bike but I am surprised you never ended up with handling issues after doing those forks.

No handling problems because I worked in a "tool room" and did them properly using precision equipment. When the front end was assembled you could slide the front axle into the forks with one finger.
All done on the payroll of Australian Iron and Steel AKA BHP. :y13:

1968 T120 - before I sold it, and after the buyer fixed it up. Pity he didn't observe original paint colour. You are allowed to laugh at the pose. BLUSH

Also my 2006 T100.

Me and my bikes through the years

This post is to complement Devo's original idea. Of, "You and your bike then and now", I thought I'd start a thread with the heading above. Please forgive me if this has already been done before
Here goes then,

Well that's my little lot over the years, well the one's that I have photos of, most have been great bikes, but a few have been total dogs the CX 500 springs to mind.
I hope that this has brought back some memories for you. Well it killed 5 min's of your day :y24:

Take care

Re: Me and my bikes through the years

Back in the 80's I had two CX500s.
First one purchase second hand, I rebuilt the engine, then traded it for a new one and loved them both, well I loved the second one.
I hated the CX650 that followed, I worked in a Honda dealership at the time and the 650 gave us headaches with bad handling.

Looking at your photos and trying to consider each bike for the time you had them, I think your FJ 1200 was the best.

Kev, you did superb work on that front end. I could never have done that. RESPECT

Re: Me and my bikes through the years

There we go I fixed it for you BBEER

Brilliant, thanks ever so much for doing that, after all it was Otherwise's idea and not mine. I did do a search before posting, but didn't find anything, or just missed the original posting.
I joined about 2 weeks or so after Otherwise posted his first post. Sorry Otherwise. BLUSH
Some brilliant pics as well.

BBEERBBEER For you Dave M

My first Triumph, 1999 Thunderbird. Bought it used in 2001 and kept it for 3 years. It was a great bike and made a decent tourer. Stone reliable and to this day it got the most questions and comments from onlookers.

Thanks CarlS, it got many compliments during the time I had it too. In 2001 I had a deposit down on the "new" Bonneville, waited, waited, and waited some more...then one day I was at another dealer's used bike sale and saw this on the lot, bought it immediately and got my deposit back for the bonnie.
Fit and finish on this bike was top notch, the paint was gorgeous up close. And to think I replaced it with a Beemer! :y10:. I actually wanted a new 2004 Triumph Tiger but was talked out of it by my coworkers at the bmw dealership where I worked at the time, and truth be told I got a screaming deal on a new R1150R plus discounted parts and accessories, and it was a very good bike, handled like a dream and had plenty of boxer-twin torque.

That has always been a good looking bike

Couldn't agree with you more Dave, but I could be accused of being just a little bit biased, having owned mine now for over 18 years. Doubt I'll ever sell it, what could I replace it with, now there's a new thread in the making. What could I replace my Thunderbird with. Please post all reasonable suggestions. I'll pick the bike to replace my Thunderbird with, and then totaly ignore it :y2:
