A pretty severe wind and rain storm passed through central Canada knocking out power to many thousands of residences and businesses.
It passed over us on Saturday and was pretty close to hurricane gusts at times. My house is quite tall at 2 1/2 stories and the gusts rattled windows and gave the house a bit of a quiver and shake BGRIN
I didn't lose power here on the coast, but inland and in the province of New Brunswick just to the north of me where Qship lives, they were hit pretty hard and he may not have power and possibly for a day or so.
If he seems to be missing for a while, that's the reason.
As always, after the storm passes the weather and sunshine is absolutely beautiful.

Winds were pretty gusty. Nothing too dramatic here for me. Others did not fair out as well as myself and quite a few went without power. May still be some without. Was out doing yard work most of the day. Lots of branches to clean up.

Lots of leaves, branches, pine and hemlock needles to clean up around my place. I am surrounded by trees. Think some will have to go. I have already removed all the popular trees I can. They are notorious for breaking off in high winds and have a LOT of leaves to clean up in the fall.

I used to have five very large maple trees on my 55' x 110' city property.
Hurricane Juan took two down; a wind storm a couple of years later damaged a third and it had to be taken down.
The remaining two were right next to my house and garage as well as the neighboring houses. The more I thought about it, the more I knew they had to come down before there was a disaster.
I bit the bullet a couple of years ago and had an arborist take them down. It was $$$ but the threat is gone. My guess is that the trees were about 60 years old.
I lucked out with one tree because it was rotten in the center and was a disaster waiting to happen.
I like trees and hated to see them go, but they had become a menace in view of the storms we're getting these days.
