Adrian, you and Shannon have been on my mind the past two days as I watched the storm system on the weather channel. I am sorry to hear of your flooding. I am thankful it is not worse and that damage is fairly minimal. Floods are awful. Work safely.

Pensacola, FL got 23 inches/58.4 centimeters of rain in 24 hours. One person drowned in the flash flooding.

We got some much needed rain last night in the form of severe thunderstorms. Lots of lightening - over 8000 strikes in Central Florida. High winds damage some mobile homes about 12 milers west of us. Lightening strikes started a couple of brush fires, which is not unusual.

Given the magnitude and extent of the damage, this statistic could easily have been a lot higher. People headed the tornado warnings and took shelter in the proper places. They survived even the whole structures collapsing on them.

We are fortunate no loss of life.....or anything we will miss. Just some "unscheduled" remodeling/cleaning and extra work :-) We are very fortunate it could of have been much worse.
I can attest to the 2 feet of water in 24 hours.......

Hey Keys, I too was watching the radar around Mobile and wondering how you and Shannon were making out. I hate to hear you got the water but thankful it wasn't a lot worse. TUP

ground water would have been fine, we where in the middle of roof repairs (timed and paid for by the guy we bought the building from) and well......it POURED in the roof and walls. again.....been there before all the equipment is elevated no losses just extra work and time to do clean up

Proof of the old saying. . . "When it rains, it pours."

At first I thought, what the hell are you driving your car for with all the debris coming out of the sky. Then you hear later that they're search and rescue volunteers, you just have to take your hat off to people who'll brave all the carnage going on around them to help other people out. It's people like them that deserve recognition for doing something like that. The best of luck to all of them. The video was a stark reminder of what Mother Nature can do if she wants to, and there's not much that we can do to stop her. I do hope that the local authorities, have gone into overdrive to help the people out that have had their lives devastated by this Tornado.

MOT, you may complain about the rain in England, and I may complain about the cold and snow in Canada, but after looking at that awful devestation, we're pretty lucky to be where we are.
It's cold and raining again today, and I can't ride yet, but I think I'll stop whining about it. I have a nice warm and dry house - not something hundreds of those folks have now FACE

Since 8:00 a.m. CDT Sunday, April 27, 2014, 67 tornadoes have been confirmed and there are possibly 12 more not yet confirmed. These range from from Nebraska to North Carolina. This is the largest tornado outbreak in the U.S. since the Nov. 17, 2013 Midwest outbreak. Included in this count were a pair of EF4 tornadoes (Vilonia, Arkansas, and Louisville, Mississippi) and seven tornadoes rated EF3.

This same storm system also triggered massive flash flooding along parts of the Gulf Coast and heavy rain in parts of the East, which triggered a massive landslide in Baltimore. twenty states have experienced severe weather almost 25% of the lower 48 states.

When I went to bed last night the confirmed death toll was 39.

Pensacola FL experienced record flooding and Mobile AL was hit hard by flooding. There is flooding all across the Florida panhandle as well as flooding in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

In the central and southern parts of Florida, we have had rain and some damaging winds - but nothing like the carnage in Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.
