Ps nice to meet you grand paul! I've been hearing good things about your work and your parts list! Dan had lots of parts. I don't know what his widow is planning to do with them all, but if you're interested, I can get you in the loop. I'm gonna need some parts if I can't find them and maybe a paint job. We'll talk when I get her here. Thanks again and I look forward to gettin my hands dirty!

About those "side covers".....on the right side where the kick starter is, there's no "cover" per se. What you see is the actual side of the oil tank. There is black metal cover on the left side.

If you decide to leave the custom oil tank in place, you can buy plastic side covers as a set that "fake" the look of the oil tank and left side cover.

I really ought to let you know NEVER to run the fork springs exposed like that unless you drill holes on the backside of the dust cups just above the tops of the seals and remember to keep them clear so no moisture stays trapped in there or else...

What you are looking at is totally rotten dust cups that tried to be water cups, and totally rotten fork springs that no longer have any spring left in the bottom 4 or 5 coils.
