Put my Chubby Button on my Scramblers left hand guard. Took about 13 seconds. Waaaay cheaper than the connectivity module if you’re just looking for simple music/phone control. It’s portability is great for a variety of activities. Might put some foam behind it in the future.

New battery, Speed Twin. Takes only about 15-20 min to run a battery down if you leave the parking lights on, which I’ve done a good handful of times. Enough to trash the battery anyway.

Another lesson learned the hard way.

They don't make batteries like they did before. I find that these batteries don't last long at all these days. I use the same battery in my home alarm system and across all the equipment it has a total of 6 batteries. I have now hooked the alarm up to an inverter with our ongoing power situations as you just cannot have the alarm not working at any time here.

For anyone who doesn't know about the Cabot Trail, these are sections that can get you into trouble if you're not careful.
I've ridden the Trail at least 13-14 times.

It's an awesome ride to the top of the highlands.

Great photo . I’ve gotten wide going down Mac kenzie , very easy to do . Good on you for bringing up the danger issue on the trail . The Dragon is a Gecko compared to the Cabot .

Color matched it's worse. It was going to cost me to paint it so might as well buy it in the right shade. The unit is fiberglass and the finish is top notch. You are correct it's pricey but then again it just looks cool.

I was looking into either a Tamarit or Reinstall Belly Pan but they only protect the forward lower frame, not the bottom. Plus they’re molded polymer or fiberglass, not altogether impact resistant. A pebble that comes screaming in at 125mph relative speed would certainly do some serious damage, and those things are meant to add substantial esthetic improvement. So I’m sticking with my Tec Parts aluminum Sump Guard which although not my prettiest addition, has performed flawlessly. It’s taken a real beating these last 3 years but the real estate it protects on the bike is still pretty much pristine. IIRC they’re 2.5-3mm thick which doesn’t sound like much but is pretty beefy. Some little object impacted the bottom center of it with such force a couple years ago it formed a little bullet hole-like crater. I don’t think a plastic guard would’ve faired nearly as well. At like 90 bucks I can afford to completely replace it every few years but it’s still going strong, albeit really showing its wear.

I found batteries don’t like to go dead and don’t like to stay dead for any length of time even worse . They don’t like being kept on a battery tender for long periods either . My 16 TTR has its original , I put the tender on it every few months when not in service and it goes to full charge in a minute or two . My 2010 Camaro , born June 09 still has the original also and it gets the same treatment .I mentioned it to my mechanic recently and he said he’s seen similar battery performance before and that being stored in a garage with a constant temperature was probably a big help . Mostly though I find they are five year items in regular use .

I relocated my pillion pegs to the original location on the muffler bracket mounting.

They were mounted on the rear holes of gussets shown in the photo (now plugged). The threaded portions had been cut down to fit the thinner gussets making them too short for the original location. To remedy this I cut the threaded portions off and drilled and tapped them to take a bolt.
