I finished installing a new stator and primary belt to replace the originals which both failed. The stator went in to meltdown and one of the reinforcing wire came adrift on the belt. Both failed at the same time so are probably related but it's not clear why they failed.

I was lucky enough to find a UK made Stator rather than a modern Lucas badged green one. My belt drive was unbranded but after some measurements I confirmed a Syncroflex Gen III was an exact match. I also took the opportunity to fit a wider SRM alloy pressure plate to take better advantage of my narrower 7 plate clutch kit. A lot of precision measuring and shimming was needed to maintain clearances because of the wide belt pulley reducing the space available for the stator.

The answers I've found involved making a tool by grinding a wrench to make it thinner.
I’ve found a local 2nd hand store with a large selection of used metric wrenches, sockets, and Allen keys for very cheap (lotta brand name stuff). Bought some last week for the tool kit I’m putting together for traveling but reading this has me thinking I should go back and get more for situations like this.
 
Put the Triumph handguards on my XC today. Wouldn’t really count on them to survive a drop but they helped cut the wind and kept my gloves dryer in a downpour.
Yes, the OEM guards are brush/weather guards at best.

I broke the r/h stock guard on my XE the second time I dropped it and not even a hard drop at that. As well as the cheap metal on the handguard breaking, the mirror mount that it's attached to also broke along with irreparably damaging the r/h heated grip. All in all and expensive lesson. I now have Barkbusters - a much more reliable and effective solution in my view.

I’m slowly learning the Triumph tax is just as hard on the bank account as the Harley tax was ;)
 
This thread is to post small things that you might have done with you bike today, mostly items that would not makeup a thread on it's own.
'68 T120 LSR Mocking up chassis. Sorting boxes of crashed racer parts. Headed for WORLD FINALS at Bonneville Friday the 29th.
Spectating and meeting with Salt friends. my "NaCl CH3NO2 " may be ready for Speed Week 2024. Shall I keep posting progress, any interest? Thanks, Sparky #724 A/PG (tentative for 2024)
 
I mathematiced and geometricated my chassis for prefab of rear sets on my '68 T120 LSR A/Pushrod Gas

For anyone who doesn't know about the Cabot Trail, these are sections that can get you into trouble if you're not careful.
I've ridden the Trail at least 13-14 times.

It's an awesome ride to the top of the highlands.
