Took the bike for a run, to circulate oil. 12 miles, nice sunny evening. Wore open-faced helmet for first time this year.

Stopped for a photo opp.

No rocks landed on the bike.

Had to use a zip-tie whilst out. Bike kept cutting at idle and hard to restart. In the end, was about to reset carbs, and spotted problem. Bowl half hanging off. Ideally, should have used zip-tie on top, using screw from there at bowl, but think thread is stripped at bowl, and couldn't be bothered.

I went out today to practice slow sharp turns. Arguably, should have done that over forty years ago. Watched some YouTube vids beforehand.

Wasn't that good. Have to try again. To be confident of doing a U-turn on a road without putting feet down, and not dropping bike of course.

Today was the day from when I'm using the BACK brake more, for low speed, turning and stopping. I mostly ride a bicycle, so handlebars lever grabbing is most natural to me.

This reminds me of the one time I was on a trip in the middle of nowhere but in the 70's, lost these as well. New zip-tie back then so I had to get a bit of wire off a farmers fence and bind my one up. Worked great must have been the temporary fix for about a year or so.

Yesterday we took a 347 mile / 558 kilometer ride to Johnny's Egg Works in Frostproof Florida for an MSTA brunch.

Must've been hungry after that long ride.

Thought you meant Florida doesn't hit freezing temperatures, is Frostproof.

Googled Johnny's Egg Works ('cos you forgot to post a pic, and I'm interested in places). Had a read of the menu! And discovered there's actually a place called Frostproof...

That's a nice tower. You could've had a photo opp. Posted it on my Tower thread.

That is a great photo you found. I have saved it. In 1942, my dad did did boot camp for the US Coast Guard in Frostproof. It isn't really frost proof, but nearly so, frost is really rare.

My wife's sister is borrowing her car for a couple of weeks, then my wife took my car camping for the weekend. Then she text me that she had bought some plants online, and they were ready for pickup....could I get them? I didn't know exactly what to expect, but they strapped to the luggage rack just fine. Took it slow on the way home, they seem fine ‍♀️

I took Skywalker for a blast , mostly pave , then some dirt and my favourite Anne of Green Gables road . Oiled the chain and admired the thing for a moment , it’s vibration is less noticeable , I think or the mods I made are working, either way I think I can live with them and the overall package is wonderful compromise of this that and the other . It does everything very well , works for me .

Today I measured the drive chain slack and adjusted the rear axle to tighten things up a bit, first time I've ever done this. I also replaced the original, very quiet horn with a brighter, louder one. And I took my wife around the block a couple times. Taking it slow because though she says she wants to ride with me, we haven't found a backrest that fits and she's very nervous.

I adjusted mine too . Just a few K kms since it’s first adjustment but it was needed . My 800 went from here to Georgia and back without adjustment , almost 10 Kkms . I think the longest you get between adjusts is when it’s new but past break in . As usual I adjusted it

with the bike on the side stand , barely loosen the axle nut and a half turn on each adjuster nut , snug up the big one wit my new 27 mm axle wrench , done . The 850S tool kit is pretty sparse and sans axle wrench so had to get one ( F9 very nice and reasonably priced ) and add some stuff from my tool box to upgrade things . Couldn’t find a spare 13 so threw a half inch . It fits snugger on the adjustment nut than the 13 did ?
A quiet morning here in Charlottetown . Finally some rain to quench the wild fires here in the Maritime Provinces . Joni’s Blue album and coffee to help the poached eggs go down ….
