It's saved my life twice. A massive motorcycle crash, including broken pelvis. And extremely late diagnosis of hiv.
Saved the life of my son and his mother.

Had some lesser emergency admittances to hospital.

My son is now very ill and gets good consistent care.

Other than plain facts, there's something no one would understand outside of the UK. There's a compassion in the NHS. That'll be greeted with 'group hug' jeer, no doubt. Divorcing care and money has intangible benefits. The NHS is mostly universally embraced by people of all political leanings, it's not a left wing thing, again something people in a much more individual-first society won't understand.

What's your experience of a publicly funded healthcare system?
And above all, everyone gets access. Finns understand the same.

These two are getting to be really comfortable with nap time! LoL.

Health care is something very important to us all as it could be a matter of life or death. With this forum reaching most countries we will find that our health care differs greatly from country to country, some having outstanding option, some not so great and some that just suck. It is always nice to discuss and find out how different forum members live and what they are offered in their particular countries.

When it comes to health care no matter where you are it is normally so closely linked to the political climate of that country so it is very easy for a discussion like this to turn into a full blown political discussion. We need to be able to get across where we are coming from without involving any type of political comments. I know it might be hard at times but this is the only way a discussion like this can continue.

I have now cleaned this thread up and removed all the post that might have been due to some type of understanding. BBEER

If you’ve followed my mod on my Thruxton you probably might recall I had a fall and landed on my shoulder. Apparently I had an old partial tear and now a full tear of the rotator cuff. It’s likely they will recommend surgery. That’s going to take me off the riding for months. A bit bummed, but if my parts come in soon I should at least get the Thruxton back to road condition before any surgery.

Nine weeks post surgery today!

I started the Triumph the other day, just to run the engine a bit and sat on the saddle. I can reach the controls, but my clutch hand is still a bit swollen and weak. I need to slowly start working on my grip strength. I’m still only allowed to lift tea cups with my left so it’ll be three more weeks before my next upgrade. Not sure yet, what I can do at that stage, but I’m going to physical therapy twice a week and trying to do my exercises at home morning and evening.

Meatloaf had a Triumph, and a Harley Davidson. He couldn't ride. He'd sit in the saddle, enjoying it.

I ride seldom, what with the bike nearly always being 'in for a service '. It's next to my armchair in the lounge. Just as satisfying as riding. Being next to the armchair, not the endless 'servicing'.

I like meatloaf. Him, I mean. Music not bad too.

Socialized medicine sucks.
Well, got my consultation for my swollen knee. Seems I won't need surgery.

Nice building, and less than five minute walk from my house.

I'm now on 'open appointment ' for twelve months. I can call them anytime if it gets worse, for another review.

I was asked if anything might have caused it. Probably not, but didn't mention I kickstarting an old Triumph. Although the crouching to repair it is a good thing!

No money exchanged hands.
