Cylinder starting out with the center piston at TDC-

Outer pistons slipped in with just a bit of fiddling-

Wayne forgot to send me the cylinder base nuts & washers; so after this shot, I scrounged a couple for temporary security-

Coming right along

Top end coming up. Copper-coat on the head gasket...

Didn't get any pix in between, but the head is done-

Installing the rockerboxes was a royal pain! The little rocker tips have a flat side that rides on the valve tip; that little ball can get turned around and screw you totally up! I really like the pushrod windows so you don't scarf up the inside of the rockerbox and/or trash the pushrods; I with Bonnies had 'em!

Now THAT is a visible picture of cam overlap!

Dinged intake on #3-

Fixed...

Crank aligned for ignition installation and timing. This is the "B" set of markings (later serial number)-

398944438.jpg

Yep, the alignment dowel hole in the crank is lined up just right (I don't have the dowel tool)

398944443.jpg

Installed the Tri-Spark rotor and set the trigger edge in position according to the instructions @ 10mm from the casting

398944446.jpg

Installed the ignition stator loosely-

398944449.jpg

Verified final alignment with trigger edge half way across the timing window-

398944454.jpg

Nipped everything up and scribed a reference mark next to the scale on the stator-

398944457.jpg

Note how tiny the 1 degree increments are; not much thicker than the reference scribe done with a razor knife!

I'll leave it to Wayne to strobe the timing and make one final heavy reference mark on the case with a sharpie or whatever...

Clutch pack inner cover had a dinged breather tube-

398944478.jpg

Fixed-

398944481.jpg

Clutch pack opened up, very sooty in there; clutch disc is in good shape, I'm going to save it for a spare "just in case"-

398944487.jpg

Clutch pack after cleaning; new AP clutch disc-

398944491.jpg

At first, I though this was a mighty heavy lump of clutch, but it's actually not much heavier than a standard twin clutch, and it's supposed to be quite a bit stronger...

Scotched the clutch drive hub with a bolt against the case and torqued that sucker down to 60 ft/lbs-

398944495.jpg

Looking more and more like a Trident engine!

398944497.jpg

Clutch pack in place with a new heavy duty actuator rod-

398944501.jpg

Quite a few busted up cush rubbers; no worries, we have a new set-

Paul,

Thank you for the fantastic progress report, photos and tips. Where can I lay my hands on the rocker adjusting screw tool you were using. Certainly better than a screw driver !

Cheers

Oil pressure relief valve, sending unit, drain plug, sump plate and check valve installed-

Thrust bearing and primary chain oiler in place-

399286889.jpg

Needle roller in outer case, case installed, clutch actuator adjusted and nipped up-
