don't feel too bad about the loss ... I just finalized the sale of my barracuda to fund my new toy. We all make sacrifices. (at least that's what my wife keeps telling me)

I'm not really. It's just sorta sad with all the places i've been to on it and how much i love that bike. But what i'll be riding soon will make me forget !!! By the way, one of the new callers today is extremely interested and is coming tomorrow. He sounds like he's already sure he wants it. I just hope he does so i can be over and done with it.

Gotta love this bit from one of the now many Tbird reviews. makes me that much more anxious...

Besides these stout power figures, Triumph's engineers have managed to tune the engine to feel and sound strong. Its thrust is direct and linear, as if pulled by a locomotive, and every turn of the thick throttle is accompanied by a fierce punch and an exhilarating sound of the 270-degree crankshaft and the work done on the exhaust system.

Huge bonus here too IMO...

Aside from the all-new, T-16 engine, the Thunderbird also gets a new six-speed gearbox . . . a gearbox that has a tall "overdrive" sixth gear for long, high-speed cruising.

In one of the reviews the guy said something along the lines of cruising at 140MPH. I'm paraphrasing, but I wasn't sure what he meant by that because surely it can't CRUISE at 140. And i thought even a top speed of 140 was highly unlikley given thats the rev limiter speed in 5th of a R3. But with a OD 6th i suppose that IS possible. Thats one thing i probably won't be able to confirm once i get one. :ya2:

I think the heavier bike would be stable a few MPH faster, tho i dunno bout 140. fastest i took the speedy was 110, which is probably 100 to 105 in real MPH. (our speedos are optimistic) It wasn't bad but i wouldn't want to go much faster on it ! i fear things like tires shredding etc. you don't just get up and walk away from a 100 MPH+ fall. :oh:

It was not that the Speedy was not stable in fact I was surprised at how stable it was. It was the wind nearly blowing me away that was the big issue. The Speedy actually had no problems at all keeping this pace fully loaded. My normal running speed on the road is between 140 & 160 KMH. However I really find that 140 kilometer/hour = 87 mile/hour (mph) is a nice speed to keep to

Actually i just said this to someone today on the phone about how stable it is. (a potential buyer) but yes, i agree and have always been very appreciative about how stable the bike is at speed. One of my most appreciated aspects of it actually. I just think this heavier *speedmaster* if you will might be even more so.
On a totally unrelated note, if you are ready for some vegas2 tomorrow i'm there.
