I may be the only human left on planet earth with only rabbit ear antennas ! I had cable for years, but when it hit $60 USD i said screw this. I remember when no one had to pay for TV and it was better than it is now, and the advertisers paid the bills. Now we pay them and they still have advertisers. Screw em. 60 bucks a month is ridiculous and i can't understand why everyone else seems to feel it's ok. There should be a boycott to bring the bastages to thier knees and force the sat/cable fat cats to have to cut back on caviar and sell one of thier jags to see what it's like to live only 10 times better than the average person. Then maybe they'd cut the prices to a huge profit instead of a monolithic one. I guess i'll get a digi box when the change comes, but i will never pay for TV again until the price becomes far far more reasonable to me. funny thing is, w/o cable i only missed it for the first few weeks. Now aside from the darn constant antenna tweaking i'm fine with it.

My cable TV bill is just a tad under that at $59.00.

That's why they allowed two cable TV companies into our area...competition.

The CEO and Son of the last cable TV company we had here (when it was only Adelphia) are now in prison for stealing from the company.

The competition thing must work because my Son in another part of the state also has Comcast and pays $28.00 more for the same package as I have.

I pay about $70 USD for three boxes - one of them is a DVR box - and most of the channels. I do not get nor want HBO, Showtime, and other movie channels. I do get the Starz channels. I have my satellite bundled with my ADSL and my telephone.

I've been waiting for that to happen here forever but they still have a monopoly except for the satilite companies. But somehow they don't seem to compete. The prices have never gone down, only up. By the way, when i say i paid $60, i'm talking about the most basic package you can get and not even any kind of box ! For 60 bucks a month you should get everything imaginable ! I have around 100 channels and there was never anything worth watching. Not exactly a good deal for 60 freakin bucks !

Seven, but some are impossible to tune in to ma watchable pics at times. Actually, only one channel comes in close to perfect, the rest are just watchable to unwatchable depending on atmospheric conditions. the worse part is having to keep getting up and playing with the antenna. i live close to mountains too so i'm somewhat blocked. (but sure makes for good riding...talk about a trade-off !)

I tried one of those amplified ones and ended up tossing it because the regular rabbit ears worked better ! the only way would be to put an antenna on the roof, but it's a 2 story apt. besides, i've come to care less about TV anyways. I just live with it. It's becoming a rich mans world just to live the same as i did a couple decades ago on a pittance.

yeah, it's all in what you're used to. I went w/o TV for almost a year once and didn't miss it. Of course i was much younger then and had much more to do ! But even today i use it more as a sort of pacifier to have some noise while i'm doing other things. It's always on but i'm rarely watching. I guess i inherited that from my parents, and being single and living alone i suppose it makes things a bit less lonely. I do watch when there's something worth watching, but w/o cable there's not much worth watching. (cable was almost as bad except for 3 channels...discovery, TLC, sci-fi, and one other i now can't recall since it's been almost a couple years now.
