I thought it was plated too .. so I put a magnet on it and it doesn’t stick so …
I asked Tec if it was stainless but they didn’t answer … along with a lot of other questions …
I will post some more pictures or the Tec pipe which I will be sending back to them as I have requested a refund. Normally I would have all the patience in the world (as you will see from my other posts regarding the Triumph Bluetooth module) But this is a poor quality product made worse by poor communication and poor customer service.. so I had had enough and ordered the Motone for the Netherlands … ordered Friday arrived Monday … first thing I did was try the clamps and they fit perfectly, no issue whatsoever ..
so I am able to show pics side by side before I fit it to the bike . As you can easily see the flange on the Tec part is too big … they have had these photos too but won’t accept faulty manufacture as the issue .. the Motone however takes the clamps as sweet as a nut …
Now let’s get it on the bike ……

Ok if the magnet dont stick its stainless.

That picture dont help I am afraid...in fact with out looking closer it looks ok.

I would have thought if there had been a problem you would not be the only one.....unless your very unlucky getting the first of a bad batch.

I heard nothing but good about TEC.....I would imagine they would want to protect that name....and if a batch was bad not dare send them out....how odd?

Pity you have had this unfortunate experience.

That pic is the Motone one so you are correct there is no issue .. I did sent 29 pics so will try again .. the problem then become obvious

Although I am having problems uploading some as it says too big for the server

It's interesting the lack of support from a supplier, good to know. I liked the Motone design which is why I went with it over other options.
After investigating the scientific controversy of H pipe vs X pipe on V8 pony cars many years ago I was well aware of the difference in their performance , there was none . With that in mind when deciding on an X pipe for the now orphaned red “R” model I was left wit just two priorities . How well was it made , and is it a good looker ?
I enjoy easy decisions ….

Maybe no gain with the V8 Sir.....but loads of gains with the Triumph Twin.....better gas miles,...more grunt....sounds great....engine smother....big difference there.

And engine braking as it should be.....before on closing the throttle felt like the rear brake was on.

WIN WIN WIN.

Are there side by side dyno results for both X and H pipes available. Would be interesting to see the difference.

Sorry if I misspoke . There was no difference in gains between the X pipe and the H pipe . Both out performed the standard system . My Thruxton R exhibited all the improvements you mentioned and a few more .
