Okay, insurance paying out 8k so I'm going helmet shopping Saturday.
More worrying is the fact that there insurance want the old helmet! I'm gonna cut the straps off of it first. That helmet is not safe and I don't want anyone using it. What do you guys think ?

Don't cut the straps as they may look at that as a sign of you tampering with it overall to get a payout. If they allow it to be used again then that is there story and shame on them

yeah just the lid. that model isn't made anymore, gonna cost me 10k for top of the line Shoei. 8k was then price when I bought it initially.

Wow I had no idea they were that expensive
+2 Don't alter it in anyway. The insurance company may be planning to send it back to the manufacturer for testing to see how well the helmet and what might be changed for future versions.
Thanks for the input guys, I'll leave the helmet as is, if it is sold then karma and conscience will prevail, I trust.

yep, jumped the bus to Arai. Told the salesman it wouldn't fit but he insisted that the new ones are more comfortable.
Tried the small on and it was snug and light.
Got a Limited edition TT Isle of Man model.
Very happy, will test it out tomorrow.
Retails for 10.5k, gotta it on special for 8k.
