I went to have my drivers licence renewed. Now anyone in SA will know that this process can take the better part of a good few hours to do. So I already had my eyes tested and had that certificate, ID copies made but I now needed the form that you fill in at the licensing department so I would have to get that there. So I think I will go early to avoid the long queue. So I get there at 7am but what do I see a long queue of people all the way down the street and I still need to get the form and fill that in. :y7:

Anyway here I sit in the cat thinking about this all the next thing the car guard (a coloured guy) comes up to me and asks if I want to buy a place in that long queue as he has 3rd place in it. I ask him how much and he tell me R30 SA so this now sounds like a great idea but I still need that form and I tell him this. No problem he has one and gives it to me and I fill it in and off I got with him. Now I am thinking I may get a bit of flack when I sort of jump the queue so now I am nervous. However not a problem no one said a word at all seemed that it was acceptable practice :y2:

So the door open now I first need to go and do the first story where you hand in all the paper work they take finger prints and the photo and then another queue at the cashier. So within a short time my turn phase one, all paper work of so no problems. Now off to the cashier another queue but not that long. So in a short while I am at the cashier paying for the renewal. She does her story and I pay her and off I go. Get back to the car and pay the R30 SA for the place in the queue. Back at the office at 08:30 am so it was not that bad.

So now I open my wallet and notice that the cashier has given me R50 too much change. Hmmm ....... let me think ............... nope not going back and stand in the long queue just to tell her and give it back ............. sorry :y10:

Those two highlighted parts are so strange to me, you sure live in a crazy place.

BGRIN

This is a car guard, they sit in public parking areas and watch your car while you are away. When you return you give them a donation in cash for doing it :y2:

I found out that we actually have a queuing business service in SA Don't-Q and they charge R 850.00 SA do the drivers licence renewal :y13:

Boy now I feel bad about the R50 the cashier gave me over what she should have in my change so I suppose I will now have to go back and give it back to her :y12:

Lol Yeah Rocky some things here work a bit different but we used to it as that is just the way it is BGRIN At some of these places you could spend a couple of days trying to sort out paperwork SAD

Well lunch time I went back to the licensing department to give the cashier that gave me R50 too much change her money back. Got there and the queue was out the door so I went up front to see if I could see her. Looks like she was not working afternoons so that was that ....... too bad now

Well, you tried.

I have seen selling places in line done here at lines for concert tickets, sporting events, etc. I have not seen it done in lines for government services.

It's your fault Dave that she made the mistake in the first place. You standing in front of her with your movie star looks, the poor girl went to jelly and couldn't concentrate.

Thanks Dave, I didn't like the generic one that TapaTalk had an I figured that I could make it more accurate for my life style. I forget the code for wink.
