We’ve definitely turned the seasonal corner. Last Wednesday I turned the solar pump on when the water was showing 15’C, yesterday I had my first swim for the season at 25’C. Today my granddaughter came over for a swim at 26C. It’s looking good! Another week or so and the pump will be turned off and the temp will hold without help. :y6:

OK new subject, I just attached a photo and it didn't attach. Yesterday I started a new thread with photos that didn't attach so I canned it. Any one else having problems with photos?

EDIT.

Now I submit the thread and the photo of my granddaughter is in a box at the end of post. I don't understand what's happening, I've attached many photos before without this problem so I'm thinking the man has changed something. CRY

Yup
Having exactly the same problem
photo comes in as attachment once you have submitted
It makes it very hard to add text between photos

Not sure why this is happening to you guys I will have a look at it, Kev I fixed your one for you.

I have moved this issue to this thread Issues Uploading Photos

I just started getting my pool ready today as normal a few parts that need replacing. Kevin that solar blanket you have there do you have any issues with it that the chemicals in the pool perish it at all. My one the little bubbles are starting to peel off and it's making a right mess in the pool. All these bits of plastic that need scooping up each time I take it off SAD

Not problems with the blanket at all, it's 3 years old but I've never known of the bubbles to come off other peoples blankets. Our water is salt, pumped through a chlorinator and filter etc it smells and tastes like fresh water. We don't add any chemicals.

Kevin, that is a nice looking pool area. TUP

Thanks Carl, because we have a large block (compared to our neighbours) we could dedicate a reasonable area to the pool and still have plenty of garden left over.
This early in spring the solar pump is holding the water at 26c, that's very comfortable.

.

Well this may be the difference then and I think my one is about 3 years old now as well, rather disappointing as it was not cheap.

Speaking from my part of the world only ... all pools require chlorine. Ours is a modern type of salt pool that makes chlorine at the correct amount and it is a very small amount. Older pools require manual introduction of chlorine and because of human error the level is up then down and up again that can cause real problems. Having said all of that the small amount of chlorine in our pool still kills a pair of my Speedos each year (that's why I swim naked :y15: LOL).

I think it is the chlorine, Ive gone through 3 solar covers in 3 years. The first was old when I bought the house and the second lasted only 1.5 yrs. I think it was a cheapy. Now I have a new one and it claims to be heavier and the bubbles on the bottom are clear. I paid a lot more for it too. I sure hope it lasts longer. The chlorine is most likely the culprit unless someone out there uses bromine like baquacil can chime in with similar complaints.

This is the type I have and it looks like after around 3 years it starts doing this, rather expensive if it only last that long as I have a large surface area to cover

Nice set up you have there Kevin. . . almost makes me want one. TUP

Cheers, funny thing is we always figured that we would never have one as we live on the coast and our beaches are world class. We moved house about 10 years ago and the previous owner had put one in so it was a matter of will we use it or fill it in. After the first summer we decided to always have one whenever possible. When we looked at this house my wife said only is she gets 1 a pool, 2 a new kitchen and 3 a pool table, all finished within the first 6 mths. For us they don't come cheap that thing including all within the fence and the filtering and heating system that's out of sight cost $52,000 SAD.

We rarely use ours. I had a house with a pool years ago and my kids and their friends used the heck out of it. Now I see it as one more maintenance item I have to put up with.
