OK folks, I hate going to doctors and I don't normally like to talk about my health but this has got me excited. I have battled cholesterol issues for years now. My triglycerides usually run from 300 to well over 500. Often so high that nothing else can be measured. Let just say it is really really bad, some from heredity and some from eating the foods I like.

I only post this here because I figure there is a pretty good chance that others here are battling the same issue. After surrendering my blood this morning and waiting for my doctor to come in a give me the lecture, I was very surprised to see her come in with a huge smile on her face. She says “ I have GREAT newsâ€. I’m like “really? what?†Then she proceeded to pat me on the back and asked “what have you been doing differently?â€

Here are my great numbers.

My triglycerides are still too high but I cannot remember ever having my total cholesterol in the proper range, and my LDL at 85! This is unbelievable!:chicken:

I have been on a prescription Omega 3 and Simvastatin for quite a while now but had reached a wall. The change has a lot to do with a Chinese supplement that my Vietnamese friend recommended. It's not a multilevel marketing thing or anything like that. My friend bought it for me 4 weeks ago at the Chinese market but it is available on the internet. I'll post it on here if you all want me to, otherwise you can PM me to get the name. Otherwise you can ignore this thread and I will take no offence.

I am interested as my L's & T's have been outta whack for years as well. Shannon says its because I eat like a goat and have the metabolism of a shrew ......but I think she is just flirting :y5:
Post up or PM me whichever you feel most comfortable with :y2:

I recently had my annual butt chewing. . . I mean visit with my doc for my ticker check up. He was some what pleased but not satisfied with my results which were lower than they have been for years. All I heard was, you're a little heavier than last year, work on that and the BP will respond too. So I worked on it and I'm now, with the help of the back issue a little heavier than at the appointment. I'm just not sure if that is what he was talking about.

:y46:Pretty sure that isn't what he had in mind but he should make that clear at the appointment..:y16:.. it's not like he tweeted it and was restricted to 140 characters..:y40:.

All of mine are in the normal range. My cholesterol is right at the top of the normal range. My BP is usually around 120/70 and my pulse when sitting is around 68. Not bad for 69 years old.

For 69? **** Carl your in better shape than me and I am 45....er 44 damn, memories going too......yes, 44. Geesh......SAD

Maybe this theory of life is not helping my case much?SAD

Gosh Carl, that is awesomeTUP. I'm only 54, 55 in a few days and only wish I could say that. I guess I could if I took the time to do a minimul amount of exercise...but I don't..There's plenty of reasons I battle cholesterol and that is one of them..

But seeing this coming home from work every day seems to lower my blood pressure

I haven't had a check-up for a while now & I'm overweight. But our days are getting longer and this weekend I resume exercise. I walk and jog around a local park and there is enough daylight now to go there for an hour after work. I'm planning on 3 sessions a week.

Yes, you should take care of yourself. Do preventive maintenance on your body like you do your bike and cages.

Hey Carl, I remember 69. Seems like it was just yesterday. . . 4th grade was fun. :y2: Ok, you don't have to say it, I will . . . SMARTASS

You been reading my book? Slow down dude, by time you're my age you will be plumb wore out.

BGRIN You said it for me.

That is a very pretty sight. TUP

Exercise is my key to keeping cholesterol in check as well as my blood pressure. I have always led a physically active life. I guess it pays off.

Dave, I don't run any more; I'm trying to preserve my knees. But I do bicycle a couple of days each week and work out at the gym three days a week. I still work at the ranch one per week - manual labor - and kayaking is good exercise.

WOW:y45::thumbup:TUP I truly am amazed! I used to play ping-pong at the "Y" and there was a 90 year old guy there playing circles around the rest of us. I came to believe ping-pong was the secret to long life...
