This is what my dealer told me. He swears they are working on what he thinks is going to be a sportbike with that engine. I believe that if they are working on another bike with this engine it's either NOT a SB or if it is the engine will have to be changed drastically to be compretitive with other SB's in that class. Otherwise it will be pathetic compared to daytonas and Busas and such which are insanely fast. So i tend to believe it will be what carl would die for,...a huge standard.

he does have a lot more inside info than other dealers because his shop works with mickey cohen mototrsprorts, and mickey is the USA triumph fleet manager. This guys sets up, mods, and repairs all triumph promo bikes and he know what no one else does. I was there today, as he's the one that did my tune for my TORs. He is a great source of inside info, and thats where my dealers i believe gets all the inside stuff he seems to know about such as triumph getting ready to offer a cat bypass for the Tbird. I wish i could have asked mickey about this, but he was really busy and i had so many questions i needed to ask it was all i could do to get a couple of the important ones in. But i plan on making him my main mech when i don't do my own wrenching, so i will be back there now and then.

so anyways, i would put money on it, but i don't think my dealer knows exactly what this bike is going to be other than it's going to be a non cruiser with the bird's engine. This could be the bike that makes Carls day. :ya2:

Well I am sure they would be using this motor for other models so it is now just a case of wait and see what they bring out. Doing a SB seems a bit far out for what this motor was designed for but who know these guys seem to be doing what others don't even think about :y114:

I think the motor is just too heavy for that. I can't imagine trying to muscle around a bike in the dirt thats as heavy as it will be with that thing. Sure, it would be lighter than the Tbird obviously, but that engine supposedly weighs a ton which is why the Much smaller Tbird weighs almost as much as that huge R3.

My uninformed opinion is that they will try to put out a bagger next, windshield, hard bags and, perhaps a top box. Something on the order of Victory's upcoming Crossroads and Cross Country. That's a very profitable market segment and the people who buy those bikes tend to accessorize them to the hilt, generating still more profit after the initial sale. With the power and torque numbers for even the base engine - and its very excellent fuel economy, that's a natural market penetration.

Well it will be real interesting to see what they do come up with and I bet it will be another winner :y115:

I bet much more of one than the Tbird, because while you and I love the triumph cruisers, the fact is there are far more that prefer standards. look at the bonnies. Probably 100 of them for every one america or speedmaster. i think they know it too. If they made a 1600 bonnie i have no doubt there will be a 1600 bonnie to Tbird ratio similar to the 865 bonnie vs speedy/amer. numbers. But I for one would always opt for the Tbird. nothing like cruising around on your living room chair. :ya2:

If anyone asked you if you ever thought a Harley engined sportbike would be made, you'd have probably thought they were crazy for even asking that question......now you see Buell sportbikes every day.

I'm in the camp that say a bagger is next.It just makes the most sense given Triumph's past business practices. Can you see it, a hard bag full fairring touring bike compleat with stereo intercom and Cruz control?Dam! I'm ready to trade up right now!!
