T140 oil filter mod.

I always thought you'd want it turned (oriented) so that when you unscrew the old filter to change it out, it doesn't drool everywhere...

When I made up my mind about the setup it was out of the two options, 1. a small amount of oil leakage when changing which will be pretty easy as there is plenty of room to slide a tray under or 2. dealing with the tight fit so the oil lines are not kinked. I decided option 2 was for me but weighing up the pros and cons when you fitting the filter to fit yourself is the way to go.

Did you remove the original oil filter screen in the sump so you would not have to deal with that 'and' change the screw-on filter? Thanks,

I have left the original oil filter in the sump in place. Not sure what others have done but I would be interested to know.

This is one of the things I don't like about the H***a I have; the oil filter is fitted on its side and drips oil all over the exhaust pipes when I loosen it.
After the first time (and a mess) I figured out a way to position a small funnel to catch the drip and let it flow into the catch pan.

Gumpt100, i ordered a filter kit today, getting parts together to refurbish my t140v, i like the layout of the filter ect. Every time we have a cold rainy day, i order parts, this year has killed my m/c fund.......

I used the same clamping system but I made up a small bracket to turn the filter 90 degrees, the filter is tucked well out of the way and there is no need for any sharp kinks in the oil lines.
Just another option!

I got the filter kit from norbsa02 for my TR7 (1977) but didn't like the mounting bracket a rather flimsy L shaped bracket - so designed a better version (see photoS) and got it made up at local engineering workshop - cost me £40. All fits in nicely and pleased with result.
