I opened it after keeping it dipped in kerosene oil for about a month and with the hope that it ll move but it was horribly jammed so i lost my hope on it....i was also afraid of opening it because too many tiny parts i saw rusted together and had no experience at all on its mechanism. I tried to get meter from somewhere and came to know that it is quite expensive. I wrote to people and they quoted 200 dollars for its repair shipping was not included:y2: Then i decided to open it with nothing to lose state of mind without any fear. And now it is working perfectly after too much back and fourth efforts on it with a friend of mine who is a car tape repairer knows how mechanism woks. Ll share further progress soon which i have taken on my camera.:y6:

this parts leg was broken in the way that can not be recognized by a new guy like me. so this happens to me and the reset numbers were not working i was very upset until i searched Google and lucky saw that it has a leg which play its part. So i made it as seen in pics :y6:

this vdo i took when it moved first time i dont know for how long it was stuck but at least i guess 20 years......(its a 52 years old meter) in the vdo u can see the trip numbers with reset option are not moving properly and also the center movement (needle stem). Both have been fixed now. the part in my previous pics solved the reset issue and there was another mystery which i found later regarding its center moment. It was slipping and a very tiny part was the reason............ :y16:

I'm equally impressed by this micromechanic mastery and the fact that you manage to keep it secret from your woman :D hats off!
