Riding around on my 2016 thruxton r today (5900 km/3600 miles) and the first half of the ride is going great, no problems. then i get stuck in stop and go traffic, every time i go to accelerate the engine revs up faster than the bike accelerates. Ive never had this problem before, so when I get home I do a little research and people have had similar problems (but on older bikes) it being a slipping clutch. Id understand if the bike were older, but ive only had it for a year now and with low milage i feel its a little premature. oil level is right in the middle of the sight glass.
then i did more searching and found the clutch cable can get gummed up and stick inside the housing. is this more likely being a newish bike over a slipping clutch?
How is the difficulty in cleaning/lubing the cable? or does it sound like a slipping clutch?

Lubing the cable is pretty easy and worth trying before digging into the clutch. Just pick up a can of cable lube at the motorcycle shop, bike store or an auto parts house. The can should come with an adapter to spray the cable with. It just fits over the cable and directs the spray down the cable.
