We had a vicious round of weather move through beginning Tuesday. We lost power Tuesday afternoon and still do not have power. Everything in the freezer and refrigerator is gone. My ten year old generator failed. Time to buy another. Hopefully, we will get our power back this morning. I have er, ah, "borrowed" a wi-fi connection from someone that obviously has power - or a generator.

The storm was triggered by two fronts colliding. I an not sure of the rainfall totals. We got over six inches Tuesday and four inches Wednesday. I do not know what we got yesterday, probably another three inches. Tuesday afternoon as I was tying the covers down on the bikes, a micro burst hit. The winds were at least 60 mph. I was off balance and the wind knocked me down. I got crawled to the lee side of the truck and got in. The burst lasted less than five minutes; but did great damage. A large oak fell across a neighbor's house poking holes in their roof. Trees and limbs blocked roads. This microburst hit about 16:30 - just in time for rush hour with no traffic lights operating on the busiest highway in Central Florida. Thankfully, we have no damage except a very messy yard.

I have a bunch of cleanup to do and will be in the yard most of today. I am sure looking forward to a hot shower!!!

Wow Carl I was getting worried when you did not check in and thought something must have happened. I was going to give you a call tonight if we had not heard from you. Glad you guys don't have any damage so to speak. Are you not insured against your stuff in the freezer and refrigerator going off during power outages like this

Wow Carl, that is serious stuff!!! Glad to hear that you escaped any real damage.
A noreaster is just hitting us now with winds gusting to 50 MPH and heavy rain later. Right now the air is cold enough that it's snowing, but will turn to rain. Some northern parts will get heavy snow.
What a way to start April!!!!

Just a quick note while I still have some battery left. Looks like no power until tomorrow. There are just 17 homes left without power on our street. There are about 48,000 cusromers with no power across Central Florida. That is down from 160.000 last night.

No, that insurance costs more than it does to replace the foods. Also, had my old generator not failed, we would be in good shape. I guess we wore it out back in 2004.

Mother nature is powerful, stay safe.

There is no doubt about that!

Aargh, more weather disasters.
Hang in there Carl. Stiff upper lip and all that.

...

Thanks, G. I have the yard all claend up and the debris ready to be hauled away.

Rocky that same system that is hitting you was what hit us - except it is a balmy 80 F here.

Hang in there Carl. I know what you are going thru, done it a few times myself. I'd much rather have this than earthquakes and nor'easter's.

If I was closer I'd let you use my generator but by time I got there your lights would probably be on already.

I think I could have come and borrowed your generator and used it for more than 24 hours! We go our power restored about 09:55 this morning. We were last seven customers out of about 160,000 to get our power back.
