Newbie Quick Question

Thinking about buying a 1996 Trophy overseas. My question is, if it was manufactured for an overseas market will this year Triumph pass the required emissions tests if I bring it back to the states?

Bob What bike is it and what model as the emission specs in Europe are very much along the same lines as the USA if I remember correctly

Well... not sure abut the exact model, it is the 1996 1200cc Trophy, only has about 40,000 miles on it.

Bob, I can only offer this. My 2012 Tiger 800 XC has the same emissions stuff as a European and Canadian spec model with one exception. Mine has (had) an evaporative loss canister from the fuel tank. The Canadian and European bikes do not have this canister. This canister is not required in most US states. It is a California requirement. Triumph elected to fit all US bikes with it. I do not know how strictly this is enforced; but the lighting must be US DOT approved.

I suggest that you contact Triumph HQ with your question. And please let us know what you find out.
