The kicker is on the left side.....I don't recall seeing that on another bike. I don't think it feels right to kick with my left leg!

The BMW's in the 50's and 60's had a the kick start on the left.
Now you mention that I do recall those. And some even had the kicker push down sideways instead of in line with the side of the bike.

Yes, I had one like that.
yep and most of the europian dirt bikes of the 80's and 90's were left foot kick , and I seem to remember the bultaco trials bikes had interchangable gear and kick start levers .
