The torque setting for the front wheel axle cap nuts is 15 ft lb. (2.07 kg m).

Good info, but even still...... if you don't tighten them down in the proper sequence, they'll still snap!

Of course, you can still ride them even with broken ones cause where's the axle gonna go? Not that I recommend it, but that never stopped me either.

Well it's not as much as I would like, but carbs back on is progress! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359168751.822042.jpg

My opinion is a classic bike with it's limited HP isn't the best choice to pull a chair. Possibly OK for short slow runs to bike shows but not for daily use.
Later Bonnevilles are reasonably inexpensive to do that job, and will do it much better.

Kind of frustrating day. I got going on cleaning the tank today. Drained off old gas, and began washing out tank to get sludge out in preparation for setting up an Electrolosis rig. Suddenly I realized that I forgot to buy a proper gas container to store the gas after pouring it out! Unfortunately the hazmat disposal site is also closed, so I shook out the water from the tank as best I could and put the gas back. What a waste of time! Is it really bad that I introduced more moisture into the tank?

I'd have tipped it into the town drainage system and followed it with a lot of water. BLUSH
Probably depends on where you live and if you are worried about getting dolphins in your tinned tuna etc. :y15:

I have made a rig in the past to clean a petrol tank. basically a board bolted to a spindle with a handle, the tank is strapped down to the board and put in a couple of handfulls of 35mm screws. now turn the handle and the screws rattle around in the tank and chip off the rust. Takes quite a bit of turning to remove all the rust but it can be done over a period of time. The alignment of the tank to the spindle is changed occasionally to ensure that all parts are done. Tank is then emptied of screws and rust and washed out.
I did try connecting a slow speed electric motor but found it just as easy to turn it manually.

So it's hard to get a good picture inside the tank. If you look back to my original posts that show the inside of the tank with chunky rust inside, it's easy to see a huge difference after 24 hours under electrolysis! I can pretty much wipe off the rust with my finger now. I think another day should clean off most of the rest
