SPCA Midrand has run out of food for the animals - the cats and dogs haven't been fed today.

Please, if you're in the area and feels so inclined, please drop off a bag of cat food or dog food. PLEASE........:anyone:

For those not in SA - the SPCA is an animal shelter (like the RSPCA in the UK) and runs totally on charity and public donations - as far as I know, they do not get any government funding.

BTW...we have the ASPCA here as well as the Humane Society and many non-kill shelters.

Shame I hate hearing things like this and it sucks. I could never work in a place like that as all the animals would end up at home with me

My family doesn't allow me to go to any of them because they KNOW I'll end up bringing 10 new animals home with me!!

I have a history of doing exactly that before.

Last time we went to the SPCA to find ONE puppy, we came home with TWO! If I'd had my way, we'd have come home with all of them. Farside's banned anyone from contacting me with notes that start with "Needs a good home...." I've been told I resemble a S'African taxi - always room for one more.

This is why I stay away from them and rather just donate when I see them collecting

Most of our pets come from the local SPCA and I make donations whenever I can.
It breaks my heart as I probably feel more for animals than I do for my fellow man.
Animals have no voice.
