I am busy watching Ice Pilots on TV about a Canadian airways located up north. If you into WWII aircraft then you will enjoy this show. They using all the old cargo type aircraft from that period. It really is cool to see this old birds still up there working.

When I look at how these people live in these remote areas with such weather conditions it blows my mind. Apparently at -40c they cannot fly and a few times they have been grounded because of this.

I catch that show once in a while. Ice Road Truckers is another one I watch from time to time.
Down here in the southern areas it gets pretty cold at times, but way up north it's beyond brutal.
I don't know how anything or anyone functions up there.

There's no reason in the world why a female can't handle a big rig. I see them behind the wheel quite often.
On IRT, Lisa Kelly, is my favourite. She can really handle those monster trucks!
The beating those rigs take is beyond brutal!

I just finished watching it yesterday and I really enjoyed it. How people are able to live in those conditions I just don't know. They had temps down to -52c at some times.

Well, there is south and then there's really south down where you are.
Compared to the Arctic, where I am is south

even to us "southerners" up there is beyond brutal, but somehow people cope with it and it's just normal to them.

Yeah, I almost had to break out the short sleeve shirts yesterday, the heat index was only 117 DegF or 47.2 DegC. My crew works in a 114 to 125 (45.6 to 51.7) actual temperature turbine/generator building.

I can't even begin to imagine what that must be like!

You can be sure they don't spend any more time there than they have to. And back when I was doing it, I did it in long sleeves.

Our crew briefings hit on temperature conditions everyday during the summer and again during the winter.

I did a trip the one day and my car has aircon in it and when I stopped at this one small town and got out the temp was sitting at 45 degree Celsius = 113 degree Fahrenheit, it actually took my breath away at first.

 

[Rocky]

The hottest I have ever experienced was one day In Australia when it hit 41C.
There was no humidity in spite of being right on the ocean, but stepping outside did indeed take your breath away for a minute.
For us who think 32C is blistering hot, it was pretty oppressive for a while.

If you want to experience heat, travel to the middle east, north Africa or the Mojave Desert ib the SW USA. These places have REAL heat!
