Now you've done it, started an oil thread :y2:
I don't think there is much to choose between the motorcycle specific oils these days. I don't think there is a "best" oil, but others may differ. All name brand oils are top quality.
I use Castrol 20w-50 in the engine and heavy duty 90 gear oil in the gear box.

You use castrol ?
Oh my God, you can only use Zobel otherwise the sky will fall in and the ocean will leak out and and and......

Sorry Paul,seriously,
as Rocky says, stick to a reputable name brand, follow the weight requirements as specified in your manual, and since its an older bike, stay with a dino oil.(non synthetic.)

I use non-detergent dino oil (non-synthetic) in my classic bikes. It's not real easy to find non-detergent oil anymore, but I get it at Tractor Supply.

Regular motor oil in the engine oil sump and hypoid gear oil in the gearbox. Don't forget to put the proper amount in the primary case too.
