OP posted it drops low enough in ten miles or so to cause gear changing problems.perplexing. No leaks anywhere and the oil level in the transmission drops to, what, zero?
ALL of it is going into the primary?? Could it be going first to the crankcase then to the primary?
I bought some UV dye to check for leaks,
checked it with UV lamp
I did empty the crank sump, oil did not contain any of the UV dye.
... so I am curious what blue "Mercury Marine gearcase 90 wt oil" is going to tell the OP that UV dye in the existing oil has not told him already?drained the primary, loads of oil came out & it glowed as well.
Well, I missed the UV dye thing. But, hey, I am curious why you felt some snark would add to the conversation. Maybe I'm missing something there, too.OP posted it drops low enough in ten miles or so to cause gear changing problems.

Maybe I'm missing something too, but I fail to see the "snark" issue.Well, I missed the UV dye thing. But, hey, I am curious why you felt some snark would add to the conversation. Maybe I'm missing something there, too.
