[lang=cy]petrol is £1.49 a litre here ! thats over £7 a gallon .[/lang]

I just did a quick calculation, that's
$9.00 US for 1 US Gall.
Carl said he's paying $3.89 US / Gall, long way to go before he catches you.SAD

An article in Forbes says that gasoline will continue to rise all Summer long.

Here in Pennsylvania, they've asked the Federal government if they could forgo the more expensive "Summer Blend" this year. So far, the answer has been NO.

From AAA:

AAA says April is when the East Coast switches from winter fuel blends to the more expensive summer fuel blends. And for drivers that means topping off already abnormally high prices.

“What we’re about to see, the increases will just make it even worse but these are typical increase we would see seasonal,” said Ragina Averella, AAA spokeswoman.

Experts expect prices to jump 10 to 20 cents over the next few weeks before spiking in mid-May at around a record-breaking $4.25 a gallon.

“I actually expect it to go higher,” Walter said. “I think $4.50 to $4.70 a gallon isn’t impossible.

I am glad I ride a bike!
Me too, at least on a bike I'm getting decent mileage for the price of gas.
I don't have to commute or drive every day since I'm retired. During the winter my car gets very little use. It's about 4 1/2 years old and only has 57,000 km's on it - 35,365 miles. It's almost a waste to have a car, but it's necessary.
This picks up in the summer quite a bit, but even then I don't drive it a lot. Unless we go on a trip I probably put about the same miles on the car as on the bikes.
My cottage properties need some work this year so I'll be spending more time there than last year, but even then it's only a 30 minute drive.

The fuel tanker drivers over here have had a vote for strike action over pay and conditions, it looks like they could be on strike over the Easter holidays!ANGER
So today I filled up my company car, it was already half full, I put 33.39 Litres of diesel in at a cost of £49.38 (£1.48 per litre) I also filled 3 cans with petrol to keep the bikes going in case of a strike. I bought 16.83 Litres of un-leaded at a cost of £24.22 (£1.44 per litre)
I wish I could buy fuel at US prices!

This IS NOT a political statement, but just a statement of fact:

You pay higher gasoline prices in places like Canada and the UK because you have higher taxes on gasoline than the USA. Most of the higher taxes are what pays for the socialized medicine that isn't present in the USA.

For example, Canadians pay about 33% in combined taxes on average on the price of fuel, and Americans pay about 11%. In the UK, VAT taxes increased in 2011 from 17.5% to 20% and the government fuel duty increased by 76p on both petrol and diesel also in 2011.

oh dont im going to cry !.....CRY
:y20::y39::y57::y48:

I then stand corrected on which tax goes to Healthcare in the UK. But that still holds true for Canada.

Still, your taxes are much higher on gasoline than ours.
Yep, you got it right......sadly.......BOTOH..........my wife has had extensive heralth care over the past eight years (still does and will forever) and I'm glad I don't have to pay for it out of pocket.
So I guess I shouldn't complain too much about the gas taxes.

I am fortunate that I can ride the majority of the days of the week. Costs me 25.00 to fill her from empty but gets me usually around 6 or 7 days commute compared to 50.00 a week in the Subaru or 70 a week in the Sebring, I ride every day I can. :y2:

Right Rocky....and as I said this wasn't for or against Socialized Medicine. I was just saying why the big difference in prices on gasoline between countries.
Yes of course, I understood that.
The news is out this mornig to expect another gas price increase this weekend - and probably every other weekend or so for the foreseeable future.
It's all over the news about the rise in US/Canada gas prices.
As the cost of transportation rises, so will food prices. It's vicious circle!!
The only good news here today is that my property taxes won't be going up this year.
I give thanks for small mercies.

Thing sure don't look like they will improve do they SAD

Time for us to all get scoots then we can call the forum ScooterTalk, kinda has a nice ring to it hey ROTFL
Yesterday I was at Costco (a huge chain discount store for those in foreign lands) and I saw a Zero electric motorcycle for the first time.
I hate to admit it, but I stopped and looked at it for a minute :y13: CRY :y15:
