I have been quoted £260 for a 600 mile first service, is this about normal?
sorry I did a quick search but couldnt firn any previous quotes, though Im sure there must be some.

Blades of Cheltenham first service £260.
Streetbike of Oldbury, first service, parts free, labour £65.
Blades clearly do not want trade, cos I will never go back there.

Mine was right around $400 at a Triumph dealership. That's like £295. As long as the bike's under warranty you have to go to a certified Triumph guy or you lose the coverage. So for me it was the dealership or nothing, hence I got bent over the barrel. There's no certed Triumph shops near me other than the carnies at the dealer.

Not true on the warranty. An owner can do his or her own service, just need receipts and make a book entry. I did my initial service but will have the 6K done at the dealer so they can run a diagnostic.

My dial has an indicator on it that tells you when a scheduled servicing is due. It's a little wrench/spanner icon right above the odo. You need the diagnostic computer to switch that off. So unless you're cool with that perpetually being on or you have the computer yourself, you're going to need a certified Triumph guy. I've read accounts of guys being cool with that icon being permanently lit up, but I'm way too OCD when it comes to my bike for that.

As far as wrenching on your bike while it's still under warranty, you do something wrong and Triumph finds out, you're at risk. As much as I love Triumph, I get the impression that they're looking for an excuse here. I know servicing are not that invasive but again, I'm way too OCD, as well as hesitant to take the chance.

My Street Twin got first Service with 1000 km/600 miles this week. Triumph Stuttgart took 210 Euro/240 US Dollar.
Stuttgart area is a wealthy part of Germany, maybe it's cheaper in northern or eastern parts of Germany, don't know.

Since we're on the topic… When's the 2nd servicing due? I don't have a manual handy at the moment and I know I've got to be getting close. I'm at just over a year and like 4400 miles.

Service interval for Street Twin is 16000 km/10000 miles or once every year, what happens first.
In your case it seems to be the year that has passed.

my first service per the owners manual was approx. $400 Canadian in 2018.

I do routine maintenance stuff myself keeping my bills but I t00k it to the dealer for the big service interval items until warranty period was over.
The second major service at 10,00 km was an eye watering $900 Canadian.

I took the bike to a reputable independent shop for the recommended maintenance at 40,000 Km and that was pricey but less costly than the dealer.

I am in southern Ontario and one of the big problems is that Triumph dealers are few and far between, and so one has to book service well in advance. And since the major service interval items require the tech to start with a cold engine, this means , in my case, riding to the dealer and leaving the bike overnight (which means arranging transport back and forth with no public transport availability) or trailering the bike and forth.

But the rarity of conveniently located dealers would be no better if I rode a Honda or Yamaha oo Suzuki as most motorcycle dealers around here tend to handle multiple brands ; over the years the number of dealers has shrunk and the remaining dealerships consolidate brands . And I don't even want to think about Harley Davidson; from what I hear, HD dealers' pricing on service would bring tears to your eyes and HD dealers are not exactly thick on the ground either.

As I mentioned, I look after most routine maintenance and running repairs myself and I enjoy working on the bike but I have discovered that in my advancing years I prefer riding to wrenching..

So here we are approaching the end of February and we are on the back nine of winter. Soon it will be time to stop bellyaching about the cost of ownership and paucity of dealers/service shops and to start riding again. Soon it will be out to the unheated garage to start prepping the T100 for another season.
