this relates to the other thread about my throttle cable breaking where i asked about was to balance carbs w/o a balancer, as mine had broken. i didn't want to buy a new one seeing as how i intend to sell the bike soon and get another triumph that will be EFI. I assumed you didn't need a balancer with EFI. But on another site someone said you DO need one for EFI bikes. However, when i asked him if he's 100% sure because i didn't want to buy one only to find i don't need it with the new bike, he sorta backed down saying he won't say 100%. So can someone enlighten me as to whether this is true, or if it's only with certain EFI bikes or what?

Having never had an EFI bike, I would think the computer balances the cylinders. I know that the computer balanced the cylinders on my Porsche individually. Obviously on a EFI bike there are no carbs to balance. I don't think I would by a gage until I knew if I needed one and knew exactly what kind I needed. But this homemade one works well for two carbs.

Thats what i thought, but i guess i need to see if anyone with a EFI bike has one and uses it. then again, there are different levels of EFI too.....some very complicated ones that adjust a million things and others that are very basic in what they compensate for.So it could be some need it and some don't.

Absolutely. I.m sure the engine management on my Porsche (which I don't own anymore) was considerably more complex than that on a Triumph twin.

I was going to say that I thought I read that Triumph wanted to keep the look of having regular carbs so they used a throttle body type of EFI system that would still require balancing.

That makes sense. I am just not familiar with EFI bikes.
