As I have done mostly all the servicing on my bikes, cars and airplanes. Having read that in order to maintain warranty on my new Bonneville it must be serviced by triumph dealer. Seems this violates US warranty laws, as long as I document the service, time, mileage and products used I should be OK? Any thoughts out their

Yes, that does violate US Law and I don't think Triumph could actually enforce it. Then again, it may cost you more to fight them than it's worth too.

However, I would use the dealership as the bike goes through it's break-in and such.

I too, do my own servicing. I took both my Bonneville and my Tiger to the dealerships for the for initial services. I had minor warranty work I wanted corrected. From then on, I serviced my own. I still take the Bonnie to a shop for the 12,000 mile valve checks. I don't have a decent place to do that myself. If you do your own servicing, write it in the book and keep the receipts for oil and filters.

Periodically, check the Triumph website for any recall issues.

The Triumph dealership I bought my last brand new bike at had a great way of handling this......

Every two weeks, their service department stayed open one evening and they invited people who had bought bikes there to come in and do their own servicing with the help and direction of their mechanics. You could use any of their special tools and any equipment that only Triumph dealers could buy. Of course you had to buy any consumables or parts you needed.

It was a teaching type thing and it built good relations.

What an excellent idea

That would never happen in Australia.
The reason they would give is safety and insurance, "what if you get injured, the people in power would send us to the wall".
The real reason is they want your money and don't want you to know how little they do when servicing a new bike.

I was also thinking about tools and stuff being taken that would cost them

You were told to bring your own basic tools. As far as I know, no one ever stole a thing. I believe the bike owners appreciated the bike shop so much for doing this program, they wouldn't think of stealing.

That could be an issue in the USA also but I've heard of a couple independent shops doing it but they weren't regular bi-weekly events.

I really like that idea - especially after I just spent right at $400.00 today on the XC.
