The cap is poorly designed. I am always finding it to be leaking or popped off. I am thinking a rubber cork that will fit under the cap will solo the problem? It should have been a threaded cap.
Any suggestions?

The expansion tank should be vented through the overflow pipe. If the cap pops off , is the expansion tank being pressurised by a blocked overflow pipe hose? The cap should not be threaded as this is ultimately a pressure relief mechanism

I will look for a blockage, did not think of that thank you.

Worth trying a new cap? this has internal rib and external lip should fit snugly over expansion tank lip . My cap will not rotate on tank neck when fitted. part no. T210105 - about £2.50 GBP

Spoke to a mechanic chum this morning when out for our run - he had a look at mine which is quite secure and agreed it's likely a faulty cap
