Gee. This thread is growing threadlets.

I often think about cancelling DSTV (sat tv), but when I look at it carefully there is enough showing to keep me happy - just. F1 motor racing in HD. Crime channel. Discovery / History / Nat Geo plus some fair quality movies. The soft porn is pretty crap! Some good comedy too. I love "The Big Bang Theory" - especially Penny!

We are paying approx $1.43 or 91p for fuel.

57 channels is one of my favourite songs of all time.

Dazco...... don't do it!

I rarely watch TV except for motor sports and other sports. I could do just fine if I did not have a TV. I do like the History Channel, discovery, etc; but I can't seem to sit still and watch TV. I even read when I am watching sports (or fall asleep and take a nap). :y2:

Carl, are you sure you're not talking about me:y2:

Or me ! I have it on most of the time but I'm usually doing something else ! If theres something interesting to watch i will naturally morph from doing whatever i'm doing to watching. But theres so little good programming that doesn't happen often. Too many repeated shows and little good in the 1st place. I generally only watch network news, discovery, learning and travel channels and scifi. The other 300 or whatever there is i don't watch because most it junk or over channel 100 which i don't get because i can't hook up the box due to the fact it malfunctions on a regular (weekly) basis and i then have to call in and literally wait 30 min or more to talk to a support person who gets it working from there. So i can't even use the box anymore. So above 100 doesn't work for me. That gives me about 5 channels worth watching. Not bad for about $80, eh? (eye roll smilie here)

LOL geez this topic comes shortly after we had no cable/satelite or internet for almost 2 weeks, what a coincidence.

We were paying about $150/month on cable and no fancy channels like HBO, Showtime, etc. Wife got the bill down to $110 a month somehow and BAM within a few months it was back up to $149 a month which included internet, 2 boxes (1 of them DVR). Our cable company always wanted us to pay current month and following month which always seemed to be billed monthly (Go Figure).

So a few weeks ago we called the cable company only to cancel and we set up with Satellite with Internet (3Meg Download) which has alot more channels then what we were getting, 3 boxes (2 DVR and 1 Standard) all for around $100/Month. Only drawback is we do not get our local news channel which sucks. I am not a big tv fan, even as a kid I wasn't much into TV. I primarly watch NASCAR and Football and maybe a movie or too. The wife is into the TV more then anything, but I am more on the net as I do various tasks on the internet like webhosting and stuff. So it is a real money saver to us having the satellite instead of Cable.

BTW our cost of gas here is $3.69/gallon as I just filled up this morning :( Cost of stuff going up and the payroll stays the same, lol.

The prediction for gas prices is another 6 cents a litre increase tomorrow so I topped up just in case. That will make it $1.36.3 a litre.
Right after the Libyan mess started comsumer experts predicted $1.50 - $1.60 a litre by summer. Splitting the difference would make it about $6.00 a US gallon.
Two people in my neighbourhood have electric scooters. Maybe that's the way to go:y13::y2:

I resemble that remark! :y2:

:y37:that's outrageous!!!!!!!!!!! That's a gallon I'm sure, but still it's insane!!!!
Best that I shut up and be thankful.

well id love to pay what your paying but thats 5years ago price!:y1:[/QUOTE]

That is horribly expensive!! :y19:

I pay $0, we had it turned off. Programs I wanted to see, the background music is so loud, you can't hear people in the show talking. Others the ads were every 10 minutes for 10 ads. I decided that I had better things to do like read a book or something.

I have no idea what we pay for gas per litre this side. When the tank is empty I just fill it up and then see I am paying the earth for a tank of gas :y10: I have two cars and the bike that I need to keep filled up :y7:

I'm more or less with you Dave. I need it so I just fill it up. But I'm retired and don't drive nearly as much as I did years ago. I filled up my Subaru two weeks ago today and yesterday it was only down to 3/4 of a tank. The car is three years old and only has 51,000 km's (32,000 miles) on it.
