Lol....thanks for the conclusion to the mystery!

I am blind without my glasses so I never take them off unless I'm sleeping or swimming. My driver's license also says I must wear corrective lenses.

I do not need them for driving; my distance vision is fine. But without them I can't read the gauges when riding or driving, can't read the computer screen nor see the keyboard. Like AJ, I rarely take mine off unless sleeping or swimming. I wear them when kayaking secured by a strap. I have the photo lenses; so they are my sunglasses also.

I am SO blind that if I take off my glasses and lay them down, I can't see well enough to find them again! :)

Once when I was hiking on a trail with my son (he was just around 4 y/o) accidentally knocked my glasses off when I picked him up to get over a fallen tree on the path. The ground was covered with leaves so it was impossible to see them. I searched on my hands and knees for around 2 hours before other hikers came along and found them. We were stranded without them as even if I found my way back to our car, I couldn't see to drive!

I worked the local Gypsy rallye this weekend, so it's been a good break from the shop.

Slept in, had a leisurely morning and got out in the shop to start on the wiring harness. First thing was to install the rear fender while I could still easily reach in and around the front mounting tab area. Did a little bit of tweaking of the fender and grab bar to try to get all the bits to align nicely, but it seems the rear mounting tab on the grab bar is actually offset from the factory! that threw me for a 5-minute loop, then snugged everything down.

Next, a good wipe-down of the harness to get the dirt and grunge off it, then laid it in place across the frame and started snaking the front end through the headstock hole. What a chore! Even worse, had to dig up the disassembly photos and triple-check several pix to make sure I had the routing correct on the spaghetti bowl around the battery tray & coils, rectifier, etc. Then, verify wire colors to coils, observing the coil polarity, etc. Had to crimp in some bullet disconnects for the rectifier & alternator as the original bullets had been well and truly frozen in their multi-connector female lumps, so i had cut them off leaving enough length to work with. They'll be wrapped and "disappear" when it's all done.

After lunch, I installed the control quadrants & headlight shell, then connected all the dots. Wired in the keyswitch just to test; seems as though the headlight bulb might be fritzed, all it did was cast darkness in typical Lucas fashion. Ignition, battery, oil pressure sensor, starter relay, all wired in.

Took the rest of the afternoon to help a friend re-install the engine in his GoldWing, using my spare bike jack.

-Install intake manifolds
-Paint & install meter mount & warning light dash sticker
-Install meters, keyswitch & warning lights
-Miscellaneous wiring connections & bundle tie straps
-Install shifter & rubber
-Install footpeg rubbers
-Install Left side engine mount plate
-Cleanup, touchup paint & install seat
-Polish front fender & bracket
-Cleanup & install spark plug wires with new rain boots
-Touchup paint center & side stands

At this rate, I might be able to have the bike running by the weekend...

Pretty decent short afternoon:
-Overhauled carbs

DSC04636.JPG

-Painted underside of tank, polished completely & installed

(before - note red overspray from factory)
DSC04635.JPG

-New throttle cable, choke plungers & all 4 cable boots
-Cleaned up & installed throttle & choke lever
-Installed air filters, airbox seals & airbox covers
-Main fuel hose & clamps

About all that's left is exhaust system & oil lines, and it'll fire up. Looks like tomorrow!

interesting! I always thought the fuel tanks with one petcock and the balance pipe were unique to the TSX... GP, have you come across that before on late model T140's?
