LAST WEEK I CHANGED OUT MY CHAIN AND SPROCKETS. I SET THE CHAIN SLACK TO 30MM AND TODAY AFTER A 282 MILE RIDE WITH MY LADY FRIEND, THE CHAIN SLACK INCREASED TO 50MM.

MY SUSPENSION IS SET TO MAX PRELOAD AND MY PASSENGER WEIGHS 130LBS. IS THIS MUCH SLACK ON A NEW CHAIN NORMAL? IS THIS JUST A BREAK IN PERIOD FOR CHAINS?

How old is the chain? Because when they start to go they go fast. Or maybe it had a bit of a tight spot and with the two up it got yanked .

In my experience, it’s normal for a new chain to “settle in” after initial adjustment. Reset the slack to specs and watch it. I bet it doesn’t move at all over the next couple tanks of fuel.
