Hello, new to the forum. I just purchased an 01 Triumph Bonneville with 12k miles on it. I bought it from a family friend who's owned it since new in 01. It's been sitting for several years. The gas is bad and the tank is varnished. The carbs overflow fuel when pressurized. I will remove and clean the tank and I plan on replacing rubber parts and filter. I want to rebuild the two carburetors. I'm trying to compile a list of parts that I'll need to rebuild the carbs. I want to put kehein parts back in the carbs, where is the best place to source what I need? Any suggestions or tips and tricks are welcome on getting this bike back in order. I also will do an oil change, inspect the chain, and put on new tires.

Probably will want to flush and bleed brakes as well.
Complete fuel system cleaning like you're doing is good. Try not to use fuels with ethanol if possible as this causes a lot of issues when/if the bike sits for extended periods.

I rebuilt my 2005 Thruxton carbs and also had to do some upgrades and mods to the jets due to previous mods and ones I was doing. If you are changing or the motorcycle is not in factory spec I would recommend looking if you need to replace and resize any of the jets.

I would check to see if it is stock. Mine had a few items already removed and some are hard to notice without really looking, like AI, Air Induction system. The more you can figure out the better your chances of getting it tuned to run right. There a few electrical and ignition items that may have gone south during its sitting period. On a positive note, you’ll know your motorcycle and enjoy it more once you get it back on the road.

You could probably have the gas tank sand blasted on the inside.
So, got a lot done today. Something weird though. All the information I looked up so far shows the 2001 bonneville with a fuel filter and fuel pump in the tank. This one doesn't. Another thing is I can't see in the tank much at the filler neck since there's a baffle. Underneath is only the petcock. I removed the petcock it and it's pretty bad inside. I have vinegar soaking right now in the tank. I also found it odd there was also no inline fuel filter.

Is there any pictures where this pump is located? If a tank has an internal pump it will have a removable plate with a gasket that has the pump behind it. Look at your gas tank. If you don’t see anything like that then likely there is no pump. Pump needs to be accessible and so do filters.

PS I don’t have a Bonneville, but a 2005 Thruxton. My manual shows the tank to appear to be similar. When I had mine off I don’t recall any fuel pump, or filter. The only filter mine had are the two on the petcock valve when I removed it. There was only a vent hose under the gas tank. For a fuel pump it would need to be either electric in which case there are wires or mechanical which usually doesn’t apply to this engine as far as I know. I don’t know enough about possible Bonneville variants and that’s why a picture would give a clue. My guess, if you don’t see signs of one, then your model doesn’t have one.
Nope, you are correct. Mine is just like yours. The petcock is GROSS. I'm hoping the overnight soak will get it clean enough and I can just replace the screen and gaskets. If not, that's a over 100 just for that. I'm currently sourcing carb parts too.
I bought a gasket rebuild kit for my petcock valve.
I saw that, but it will not come with the two new screens for the pickup tubes, right? Also I'm trying to figure out what sensor i took off of the carb. It had two torx screws and seemed like a throttle posistion sensor or something. A tiny little piece was loose inside of it.
The screens might have been an item that cleaned up. Blow air through them, that should help. As for the throttle position sensor, I left it alone.
