Has anyone installed this device from STS on their ST? I'm curious about two things: 1) where did you mount the device, and 2) any hints about were to access the wiring?

I only see one wire bundle running to the rear lights, so I assume I have to cut into the casing to expose the wires within, but being a total novice when it comes to motorcycle wiring I figured I check with some experts.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
 
Scrolled all thru their list and did not see a listing for the Street Twin. Many older Triumphs and a few new models. Did you submit for a response from them?
 
I received the module this morning and started the install, but am currently stuck on the wiring. Here are their instructions:

These instructions are a big vague, but I think the list of colors (e.g. Yellow and Red for the Power connection) means I'm looking for either a Yellow or Red wire on my Triumph. Same for the Signal connection - it's either a green/purple OR Green OR Blue wire.

I do have an email into their support staff, but it's after hours where they're located so I'm hoping to get answers to my two questions sooner than tomorrow.

1. Does my assumption above about the wires make sense?

2. I have 2 yellow wires that run to the rear light assembly. Would it be a safe assumption that both are power and that I could connect to either?

Almost. The Red/Blue (red/blue stripe) from the module goes to Yellow or Red (Yellow preferred, apparently) from the bike.

Yellow from the module goes to Green/Purple (Green/purple stripe), or Green, or Blue from the bike.

Green from the module goes to Black from the Bike.

Answer to question 2: the two yellows are most likely the signal wires for your turn signals, one for left and one for right. That means the Red/Blue should probably go to Red.

The reason you have "multiple choice" on the bike side is because, while there is a "standard", it is not adhered to strictly.
 
Thanks @Greyfell. That all make sense, except for one issue - I have no solid red wire on my bike.

The only other wires in the bundle are a green/red wire and a green/white wire. Any ideas?
 
OK, in that bundle of wires, those green-stripe wires must be your signals for left and right. Therefore the yellows must be power, and you could connect to either one, but, in my opinion, it would be better to connect to the yellow wire for the brake rather than the normal tail light. You would determine that with a multimeter (connect one lead to negative battery post and connect the other lead to one of the yellows [separate the connector plug and poke the lead in there toward the bike] and activate the brake), That is only to keep things "orderly, and you want your new module to activate properly.

Yep, gonna breakout the multimeter now. Wiring is not my thing, but I think I can muddle through. I did find a wiring diagram for a T100. Not the same bike, but it matches up with G/P as the signal wire and Yellow as the power, so I'm in agreement with your analysis. I'll make another post once I get it all sorted out.

Yes, I've seen that helmet light before. It looks pretty cool, but I wonder if 7 oz is too much to tack onto your helmet weight.
 
Mission accomplished! The two yellow wires were both switched power supplies with the same voltage and neither was controlled by the brake lever in anyway, so I just pick one and went for it. Everything appears to be working correctly. I'm happy. Thanks for the help.

I have one from the original crowd-funding campaign. You won't notice the 7 ounces, your helmet is heavier.

Which wire did you pick? Solid yellow or the yellow/black?
 
@Adrijan7 - It's been a year now and it's all taped up, so I can't remember and can't see to remind myself. Odds are I picked the solid yellow wire because yellow/black wasn't in the directions, but like I mentioned in the earlier post, I think either would have worked.

Thanks! Ever any issues with warning lights, engine lights,etc. coming on? I saw in another forum someone mentioned it caused warning lights resulting in having to take it off...
 
Absolutely zero problems. I’m very happy with the product. My guess is that any problems others experienced were caused by improper wiring.
