Hi I'm new to the forum, I have had a 2016 street twin for just over a year. Has anyone else found the seat to be uncomfortable and if so has anyone tried the low comfort seat (part number A2304333) and found it more comfortable than the standard seat. Be grateful for any help thanks

All I can think of if you lower the seat on a bike, you cannot change the frame of the bike so they would have to remove material from the seat. Can't see that making it more comfortable.

I have never heard of anyone mentioning the seat being bad before. Then again just looking at it now I could see this could be an issue.
after about 30 miles both me and my better half experience numb bums, the bikes only done about 4,000miles so it might soften up a bit hopefully :). I do know that they have added an extra 10mm thickness to the 2019 models whether this is a result of people complaining about the same problem I don't know. My previous bike was a Suzuki Bandit and the saddle on that did not look as comfortable as the Street twin but we never had any problems with it.

Yes your right of course there is going to be less padding in it so it is likely to be less comfortable, however and I quote from the advert for the seat "comes complete with 3D Net inserts to ensure optimum comfort for both rider and passenger" :). So I was hoping someone might have one on their bike and be able to share their thoughts on its comfort

Have you checked on Triumph Forum: Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums - Powered by vBulletin .
A lot more peeps on there so may be someone has chimed in with their opinion on the seat.
A good auto upholstery shop should be able to recover it for you with better foam underneath. Don't know what the cost for something like that would be.

Thanks I will give it a try, but I think I will go down the re-upholstery route

I have owned three modern Triumphs and with all three the stock seat was uncomfortable. Two I solved with a sheepskin cover. My current Tiger has a third party seat.

Hi, Peckst -

My 2017 Street Twin is terribly uncomfortable after about 30 minutes of riding.

Revzilla did a review of the 2016 and the author/rider said this:
The seat, while stylish, was highly uncomfortable for any extensive period of time.

Everyone complains about the seat. There are lots of YouTube videos and articles about the seat being uncomfortable.

Here are a couple of links to get you started:

There are a ton of threads/comments online about this lousy seat. I'm loathe right now to drop $500 on a new seat when I'm half ready to sell my Street Twin anyway. The cold weather starting issue drove me nuts this past season. (Google that one, too.)

Let us (me!) know what you decide to do, and if it helps!

Hi thanks for the links I'll take a look through them, at the moment I'm just putting up with the pain, if it wasn't for the seat I'd be really happy with the bike. I can't understand why they do comfort seats for the T100 & T120 but not the Street Twin. I will definitely post a picture if I ever get a seat that's comfortable. As for the cold weather starting problems I haven't suffered yet but will google it

I don't have an ST so haven't been keeping up with the cold starting issue and didn't know there was a problem.
If it doesn't get resolved I can understand becoming soured on the bike SarahP.
Triumph really needs to get a handle on this issue. Bad news travels fast these days. Customers want to touch the button and go.

"after about 30 miles both me and my better half experience numb bums, the bikes only done about 4,000miles so it might soften up a bit hopefully "

After her first two up ride wife said "It ain't no BMW." (It was a 2016 Street Twin.)
After that I got a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 400ABS. She just refuses to ride on that little triangle of a passenger seat. Good thing I have a BMW in reserve. By the way, I found the OEM seats to be just fine with no need to replace either one.

Can a T100 or T120/seat be fitted to the Street Twin.
This might solve Sarah's problem.

I changed my seat for the sports one. 100 mile rides are totally fine

I have the 3D comfort seat on my Thruxton R . Quite an improvement over the stock seat which was similar to a 2x5 . If memory serves correctly I believe the comfort seat was reasonably priced and there were no aftermarket products offered at the time . The saddlemen on my tiger was almost double the price of the comfort seat I think . I have a few 700 km days on the Thruxton and thats the absolute limit . I would try an Air Hawk first but a Sargent or Saddlemen type is probably what you need for all day ride outs .
