That pop on decel is normal. I like it. :y2:

Glad it is running good and you are enjoying it. That makes me think it was moisture related. Thanks for reporting back.

***UPDATE***
Pulled the seat just to check out the procedure and check connections and low and behold the red booty on the batt pos lead was pulled back and both battery terminals were loose!
the dealer ship had put a battery tender lead on they said so they could give the batt an all night trickle charge before I picked it up but whoever did didn't tighten the screws.
Tightened them up and although I only rode it around the property it truly feels like it did when I test drove it.
Does that make sense that the loose leads would have cause my symptoms?
I did check the other connections under the seat but didn't find anything amiss.Unfortunately no time to ride now.

I have no experience in relation to the effects of loose battery terminals however it may cause the issues due to the ECU, EFI and sensors in which voltages would be critical for exame the throttle position switch has to be set at 6vdc at idle so if the voltage is not correct it has a major effect on operation and can and will effect performance between idle and around 2500 rpm.

I think you may have found the cause well done! And sad that this happened to you on new bike and from dealer and they wonder why I do my own servicing!

Great going seem that the dealer needs a phone call and told about this. Not very nice when you get a new ride only to have an issue on your first outing

I have been in contact with the dealer through emails regarding the problem I was having and did let them know yesterday what I found.
They were closed yesterday and today so no response of course.
Maybe this can be used as a learning experience for whoever left the cables loose.
It was for me at least.

Somewhat related....

On a Jaguar car forum I'm on, a guy was asking if anyone knew why his Jag would cut out momentarily if he hit a bump or pothole. People were telling him all kinds of stuff. I said to start with the easiest and most obvious thing....check the battery cables.

The others made fun of my suggestion saying the car should run with no battery once it was started. I don't believe it will on a Jag (I also confirmed it by disconnecting the battery).

Anyhow, it turned out that his positive cable was very loose and that cured the problem. The battery starts the car, but then all the subsystems are on low voltage for the computers and such. When the battery cable would make partial or no contact, it would drive the computers crazy.

Your case is not the first time this has happened by a long shot. My negative cable was loose on my Tiger XC. It did not cause a problem because I caught it in my routine going over my new bike. I have read of this on many automotive and motorcycle forums.

And at the end of the day, this standard of workmanship from a dealer is totally unacceptable and I feel incidents like these should be reported to the national Triumph importer.
If they cant pay attention to connecting a battery properly, what other critical parts have been left unsafe.
They collect a large chunk of cash selling these bikes,at least they could earn it.

I just bought a new t100 from Lynnwood - I live on Queen Anne. Haven't had it out in the rain but I've experienced started issues also. There have been some threads about this. I've seen 3 possible solutions
1. Keep thumb on button
2. Pull out "choke"
3. Turn key off and on again.

Do you still have a choke or more properly, an enricher, on the EFI Bonneville's? I know my carbed T100 has one. These engines are cold natured and won't run properly until good and warm. In cold weather it may take 10 or 15 miles to get the engine properly warmed and you can push the enricher all the way in. I don't have any experience with the EFI Bonnies.

Hi hassul.
My initial starting and running crappy problems were all solved when I found that the batt leads were loose.
Then I decided that I would do the marble in the air induction line from the air box and it ran good for a couple days with a nice controlled throttle response then it started getting hard to start.

I checked the hose from the air box just cuz and it was hard as a rock between the marble and the valve making me think I had some kind of vapor lock going on (for lack of a better term. Not really a mechanic)
Anyway I took the marble out and plugged the hose back in, did the 20 minute idle thing and it started fine after that although I still thought it a little rough at idle.

Last week took it to I 90 Motor Sports where I bought it for the 500 mile service. They said that my idle was low and that I had an exhaust leak at the joint where one of the silencers plug in.
Bike runs like new again as it should.
I would check all your exhaust fittings and make sure they are tight.
How's the Cycle Barn treating you?
I was going to go and see them when I was doing my shopping but went to I 90 and ended up buying a T-100 they had on sale.
Cheers
hey

Hi, Tboneplayer.

Bike is red and white. Did you want to have coffee sometime at the terminal? I'm retired so pretty much available anytime.
