Just bot a stock 2014 America 865 EFI my 1st Hinkley to compliment (by being more modern hyway capable) my Meridian 650s. Anyway as I take off and build speed there is like a turbo whistle. Is that just a 865 thing or is there a Mod ? Thank you for a reply

Yes I have discovered what that is now and might remove it and see if that clears up the mini turbo whine.
I doubt the air induction system will be the culprit, mine was silent when it was connected. I have since removed it but for unrelated reasons.

Hmm well maybe it's just the way the valve train on these Hinkley/Thai EFI 865s sound. Cut the rusting due to moisture ??? inside last 6 inches of the tail pipes off with a reciprocating saw. Drown out the noise like turning up the radio in a car. Lol. Will disconnect SI and report back.

My 865 whistles. If you listen to a recently rebuilt reasonably hot V8 you sometimes hear them whistle too. I think it is the sound of a motor with good compression running well. When I start my bike I usually do about 200-250 kms on the day so it has had a good run so far. Sometimes the exhaust note drowns out the sound of the motor running on some bikes. Doesn't whistle, all the time but sounds nice when it does. Some bikes have a wonderfull induction roar (not mine) that cancels out any motor noise.

Thank you, I am just trying to find out if the noise is normal for a 865. Or is my Air induction system leaking and is a useless pollution control device that is the source of the mini turbo sound and should be removed.

Removing it shouldn’t hurt your motorcycle. As long as it’s not illegal in your area.
