I know folks just like your buddy. I always carry my phone when I ride just as I always carry a credit card. However, I don't answer it or make calls on it during a ride unless my wife calls. If she calls when I am riding, it is something serious. I have a Cardo Bluetooth in my helmet; but I do not answer nor talk on the phone while I am riding. I do listen to my GPS instructions while riding if I have set a destination.

In Florida we define a hill as anywhere water does not stand when in rains. BGRIN Seriously, in the center of the state and in the panhandle, there are some real hills.
I live on one. Elevation 140 ft. This is the reason I bought a non ABS bike, had to wait because it was still in the crate.

We're a bit off topic, but in that vein, when I was riding in the Andes Mountains of South America a few years back, we were often riding at very high altitudes; thousands of feet in the air, and let me tell you, trying to breath in the very thin air is no joke to us who live our lives at sea level.
It was fine while riding, but when you dismounted and tried to walk around you quickly ran out of air so you had to move slowly or risk altitude sickness.
More than once my head started to swim from oxygen starvation and I had to rest to recover.
But it was all part of the experience and I wouldn't have missed that adventure for anything.

I am about 60 ft above here in Stratford just across the harbour from Charlottetown . Not sure how high that double black diamond was in Sunday River but it was real steep for an amateur like me .
Rocky , how did you manage to get vaccinated ahead of me at your age ??

:y23: I try to be careful; I have backup oxygen for these altitudes. BGRIN
Carl got the vaccine, Not Rocky.
Vaccine manufacturer Merck has abandoned development of two coronavirus vaccines, saying that after extensive research it was concluded that the shots offered less protection than just contracting the virus itself and developing antibodies. Good news for me since I had COVID, recovered and have tested antibody positive.

You're both pretty spry for rocks and dirt. Can self identify with whatever you wish these days. Just remember rocks and dirt aren't eligible for medical and old age pensions, YET!BBEER
