Simmer - if it's the tree with lots of round green things on it, that's a Wild Fig, indigenous to Southern Africa. Birds and monkeys love these trees.
Steve - it's a dung beetle. I was amazed at how fast these little creatures move considering the dung ball is 2 to 3 times bigger than the beetle. We were also glad the lions had already caught their dinner and weren't sizing us up! Believe it or not, some people (not just tourists) actually get out of their cars to get better photos then there's a big hoohah when they're attacked by lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog, hippos, crocs or trampled by elephants. These animals are truly wild and in their natural habitat - it's not a zoo.
Because of the size of the Kruger Park, it's not easy seeing the game. Sometimes you can spend days there and only see a few Impala buck and zebra. Spotting cats, hyena, wild dogs and rhino are a real bonus.
I'm still learning to use my new camera - wait till Farside posts his. Awesome to say the least and I'm a bit jealous of some the shots he got.
For all the issues we deal with here, we do live in a beautiful country.
