Off topic but apple related, about 3mths ago I planted an apple, peach and a cherry tree. It's spring for us now and the cherry and peach have both bloomed and now are sprouting fresh green growth the apple is in full bloom (small young tree) it looks fantastic. I have to find out if we require additional trees for cross pollination of if we get fruit with one tree only. Any knowledge on this subject?

If there are any other trees in your area bees should do the job.

Do you mean trees the same as the apple, same as the peach and the same as the cherry, or trees in general. We live in a reasonably green area and only yesterday I saw a swarm of bees. We have bees working on our other trees and plants all year long. I'm unsure if we have to have two of each fruit tree to get fruit ie cross pollination.

Can you simply go to a nursery, buy a peach tree, plant it, and expect to have peaches soon ? Because i crave peaches and i can't afford to eat them near as much as i want. So if this is the case, when i finally find a house (assuming that ever happens:y8: ) that will be the first thing i do.

LOL :y2:

As far as your trees are concerned, they need to mature a bit first. And yes, bees will do the job but it sure helps if there are the same type of trees in your area. Planting at least two of each would have been a better plan.....sorry to say.

Don't be sorry, we have plenty of room I may get another of each to ensure best pollination. My wife is the one who has final say on garden matters, I'll run it past her.
The peach is now covered with very small developing fruit but I don't expect to be bottling this year :y8: , it's about 2 mtr high and loving the spot that it's in.

Very funny.
That reminds me of an old Polish bloke I worked with many years ago, he'd say "Eat your sweets first, you never know".

Sound advice! :y2:

I really seem to struggle as far as getting fruit to grow in my garden. I am sure that my lot was the one where they would deposit all the rubble from the houses they were building in this area at the time. I have a layer of sand then followed by building rubble and rocks so just to plant a daisy I need to get an excavator out did a 50ft pit fill it up with good soil and then plant in that :y7:
