Now I have stainless steel plates and screws holding the pieces together. I always thought they used titanium, maybe us lowly medicare folks are lucky they don't use pot metal.
Did your doctor test you for tolerance of titanium? I discovered, after losing my dental implants, that my body rejects titanium, and that there is a test for checking one's tolerance of titanium. So, in my future, any metal implants are going to be stainless steel.

Hi Greyfell. No, he didn't check. He was a trauma surgeon and it was considered an emergency. I asked about titanium but got no meaningful reply. I'm sure this hospital just uses the most economical materials.
I too am a candidate for a dental implant but the last place I checked said "$3-10K" for one extraction, bone graft and implant. Didn't know they use titanium. -BA

Titanium intolerance is not common; I just happen to be one of those people. The fact that there is a test for it shows it happens enough to be a concern. Your doctor must request it according to what I read from a couple sites.

What one should know about titanium implants

Titanium rejection

Here is a clip of ol' me winding through a few gears in my ugly Triumph. I could paint it and shine it up and take a little pride in restoring this bike, but then it would quickly have a new owner. You see, I have no space inside to park it. This is my first video riding it and was not really prepared. Next time I'll clean it up a bit and wear regular clothes (not my crawl under it to change the oil clothes). Is this bike too loud? Non-stock pipes have a couple neighbors sort of looking at me askance. -BA
