I would have also thought this but now funny you should bring this up. At the local Triumph dealer the main Triumph salesmen road a Kawasaki :y7:

He shouldn't work there then.

My Father-in-Law was a Chevrolet and Ford dealer and never would allow anyone (outside of the mechanics) drive a competitor's car. That's really bad for business and salesmen and management got free demos to drive each model year.

Something that drives me nuts is when I drive past a UAW (United Auto Workers) union hall or past the Lordstown GM plant (where they build Chevys) is to see Toyotas and Hondas parked in the employee lots.

We have a lot of people who work for GM around here either at the Lordstown plant or at the DELCO electric plant.

They all get to buy GM cars on an incentive plan (ie: dirt cheap).

So every year when the new models come out, these people are selling their last year's model in their front yard or driveway. You can get some nice deals on 1 year old cars from them!

Providing demos for your customers and staff is simply a cost of doing business.

That's a horribly reflection on Triumph as well as the owner's business sense!

Yup it is and that is why my dealer sits some 700 Myles away from where I am. Some months back I popped into this dealer just to see if they would have a Tbird on the floor that I could just have a look at. Got talking to one of the salesmen (new guy working there) and told him I am interested in a Tbird. He took down my number and said he would contact me as soon as he gets more information on the Tbird. Well I am still waiting :y7:

Many years ago I visited the Suzuki plant at Hammamatsu. There the employees could ride or drive any brand of thier choice, but they could only use the company parking lot if it was a Suzuki! Brand loyalty is really big in Japan, and parking space is at a premium!
