Last time I checked they were and in working order too ;-)

I do have a fairing and I've added deflectors for my hands so I'm not really getting much wind.

The toes tended to get a bit cold (well numb) so I tried snowmobile boots, but they were so bulky that I couldn't shift or brake. I then resorted to electric wool socks and that problem was solved.

Our climate on the high altitude savannah is very different from DaveM's coastal climate. We hardly get any rain between end April & early Oct. But having said that we've had a shower this afternoon which is most unusual for this time of year.

A couple of years ago I returned from a cold wet soggy holiday in the UK at the end of August. After I got back to Johannesburg we enjoyed 28 successive days when there wasn't a single cloud to be seen. Yes, clear blue skies for 4 weeks. Do I ever get fed up with sunshine? Never, especially after 26 years living in England.

This caused me to realize why perhaps I enjoy the brisk and snowy climes as much as I do....

For a guy that was raised in a place with 4 distinct seasons and cold, snowy winters, it was like shear torture to then have to spend several years in the hot, rainy, and humid jungles of Vietnam. If I hadn't been as young as I was then, I'm sure I never could have taken it at all. When you add into the equation that people were always wanting to kill me, the aversion is even more understandable.
You couldn't PAY me enough money to live in hot humid conditions again.....come to think of it, I wasn't paid ENOUGH then either! ;-)

You wanna talk weather? Yesterday it was 105 and today it's supposed to go up a couple degrees. Thats just the easy part tho....we have a bunch of huge fires right now and w/o a cloud in the sky it's dark as a completely overcast day, and breathing is worse than i ever remember. Much worse that when we had tho hundreds of fires at once last year....or was that the year before. In any case it feels like i'm suffocating even inside, and you add the temps and it's like dying. no riding this weekend ! I need a freakin' gas mask and a pool full of ice water :oh:
